If you’re looking for an upscale Korean BBQ in Singapore, look no further than Chingu @ Rochester! My recent visit left me feeling impressed.
@chingu.rochester welcomes you with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant's modern and minimalist decor creates a cozy setting. The soft lighting and tasteful art pieces on the walls add an elegant touch to the overall ambiance, making it perfect for an intimate gathering.
The staff were well-versed in the menu and happy to offer recommendations based on my preferences. Not only do they grill the meats for us, they were attentive and ensured that I had everything I needed throughout the entire dining experience.
Chingu specializes in Korean cuisine and the menu boasts a wide array of delectable options, ranging from Korean BBQ to traditional classics such as stew, noodles, rice and pancakes. Of course, I’d recommend going for their Korean BBQ as you’ll find a selection of premium cuts such as Kagoshima A4 Wagyu Rib-Eye Steak and Hokkaido A4 Wagyu Rib-Eye Steak. You can consider getting their BanBan Pot to pair with the meats. We chose the Army Stew and Fish Cake Stew and I personally prefer the Army Stew broth better as the Fish Cake Stew was slightly mild in flavour.
While browsing their menu, I couldn't resist trying their sparkling makgeolli - the Boksoondoga Hand Brewed Sparkling Red Makgeolli. It’s my first time seeing and trying a sparkling makgeolli and this unique makgeolli variant offered a refreshing twist with its effervescent nature, which added a playful fizz to the traditional rice wine. The taste was pleasantly tangy and sweet, with subtle fruity notes. It was a perfect balance of flavors, making it a refreshing and enjoyable choice to pair our meal with. The allure of the 20% off all Makgeolli every Thursday made the choice even more appealing!
Overall, I’d say @chingu.rochester is a hidden gem with the ambiance, service and food combining to create a pleasant dining experience that will keep you going back for more.
