Time waits for no one, and neither does the cha chaan teng scene. Trends and social media are driving a new approach, and Keming Bing Sat is one of those Hong Kong–style tea restaurants bringing a fresh, modern twist.

While visiting Funan, I came across their newly opened second outlet and decided to give it a try. Their first branch at Plaza Singapura marked the beginning, and this expansion shows how they’re embracing the new-age cha chaan teng vibe. The menu blends familiar Hong Kong staples with playful local touches, making it approachable yet exciting.

Scallion Oil Deluxe Mixed Grill Rice on Hot Plate ($15.90)
Pork chop, chicken chop, chicken sausages, sunny-side up, and rice. Sinful and oily, but still tastisfying. Pork chop and chicken chop were succulent, easy to cut, and tasty, with scallion oil lifting the aroma. Sunny-side up was perfect with a runny yolk. Sausages seared evenly. Rice fluffy, drizzled with light soy sauce. Serving it on a hot plate kept everything warm.
