The Alkaff Mansion has reopened with three dining concepts housed in the historical building that stood in the same location since 1918. It now housed TXA, a pintxo bar serving food from the region of Basque; UNA, a classy space for fine gastronomy of Basque cuisine; and Wildseed Café, a beautiful cafe with floral themes running through the setup and menu.

I spent an evening there sampling many pintxos, and really good pintxos that looked deceptively simple. Pictured is Pintxo Igeldo, served with confit tomato, tuna, anchovies and piparra. A complex mix of flavours, it's edgy with sharpness and heat, but balanced by the sweetness of tomatoes. And that is consistent throughout the pintxo menu, you can sense several things going on but they were all in harmony.
