Noodles were springy, dark sauce was thick and flavourful, poached egg would have made gordon ramsay proud. And most importantly, the chili was the crunchy and fragrant kind but therefore lacks body and umami. Love the black Fungus as well, unfortunately when everything was mixed together the mushroom braising liquid came thru the most which really affected the balance between the chili and the dark sauce.
Rlly different from your average ban mee, despite the name being grandma ban mee. So cant rlly compare with mdm Leong, since the taste profiles are so different. If i had to choose one though, i felt the mdm Leong one was more satisfying. Funny how one bowl has one ingredient that lifts the entire bowl out of mediocrity, but another bowl has a single ingredient that burdens all the other good elements.
