Chinese cuisine is more than Dim Sum & Zi Char.
I used to be quite intimidated by Sichuan & Northern Chinese cuisine. I was only comfortable ordering 麻辣香锅 (spicy & numbing stir-fry dish) & 凉拌菜(cold Chinese salad).
I ordered the 辣子鸡 (Spicy Chicken) for $10, seeing how it’s a common dish on most tables. It was certainly a rewarding first-try 💯💯💯
Crispy chicken cubes, stir fried with spicy bean paste & Sichuan peppers. Even though the dish looks like it’s made up of 95% chilli, it’s not as hot as it looks. As someone who enjoys piquant & heavily flavoured food, this was a delight to devour. Not to mention, the portion is super generous and can be shared among 2-3 people. I would recommend this dish for anyone who wants to kickstart their Sichuan food journey 😋
