For lack of better words, OVERBRØD’s Shooting Star/ Stjerneskud ($26) was like a deluxe/ glorified fish burger. Pricey, hell yes, but the ingredients felt really luxe with the hunky butter-fried halibut (which was prepared ala minute I believe) and a pretty generous serving of salmon roe. Stacked with hard-boiled eggs, tangy Danish remoulade (much like tartar sauce), crunchy charred asparagus and savoury house-cured salmon, the open-faced sandwich served on a fennel bread was a literal mouthful - so surprisingly hearty and good. Although their cold smørrebrød options looked good too, I thoroughly enjoyed the crisp-crunchy yet light hot battered fish. Flaky and firm, the protein nicely balanced the saltish gravlax and briny roe. Oh and to complete the meal, I highly recommend topping up $4 for a small soup of the day. The flavourful Tomato and Fennel soup was comforting, wonderfully tangy-sweet and creamy.
