If you pop by Elephant Grounds, be sure to check out their ice cream sandwiches; they feature a different flavour every week.

When I was there back in April, this one of dulce de leche (caramelised milk) ice cream wedged between chewy cocoa Rice Krispies "cookies" was really something special. Wish I had this to savour in Singapore!

We struck up a little chat about food in Hong Kong with one of the lovely staff at Elephant Grounds and upon request, showed him our very extensive itinerary comprising over 60 eateries we had hoped to visit over 5 days.

Noticing that we had several ice cream stops on our hit list, he insisted that we try the in-house ones at Elephant Grounds and called for a scoop of their best-selling Thai Milk Tea flavour to be brought to us so we could try it, on the house. Such a wonderful gesture.

I'm not usually a fan of Thai milk tea because it's so "siap" and saccharine, but this one fell on the right side of both boundaries, toeing a fine balance that I could more than appreciate. Would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Thai milk tea!

Fatty salmon done aburi-style, sake soy, pickled ginger and cucumber, creamy sesame dressing with corn, and an onsen egg in the middle of it all. I couldn't have asked for a better rice bowl than this.

3.5 munchies: Smooth and creamy cinnamon ice cream sandwiched in gingerbread cookies, topped with festive sugar sprinkles and gingerbread men. While it was great that the gingerbread spices did not overpower, the cookie was a tad sweet for my liking, though.

The gingerbread man ice cream sandwich is available at the Sheung Wan outlet till New Year's Eve.
