Having followed Eat 3 Bowls ever since they had first established the brand, it is hard to imagine how this folks had expanded their brand over all these years — having started from just a hawker stall that is located at Seah Im Food Centre, these folks now have multiple locations scattered across the island with a handful being situated in shopping centres. Their latest outlet to have opened within a shopping mall would be that of their Causeway Point location — their outpost there is located within the basement level of the shopping mall, taking over the space that was formerly occupied by the now-defunct location of Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert. Much like their outlet located in Century Mall, Eat 3 Bowls’ space at Causeway Point is located right beside the shopping aisles being modestly-sized with a good number of done-in seating that comprises of wooden dining furniture being placed within the space. Considering the space constraints, the seating space can be described as a little tight and claustrophobic to some. That being said, the space is well-decorated with the use of wooden accents amidst a white and teal colour scheme that is consistent amongst their shopping mall locations. The menu at their Causeway Point location is split across sections dedicated to Signature, Favourites, Classic Sides and Beverages — the only item being listed under the Signature section being the Eat 3 Bowls Set, while beverages includes items such as Taro Milk with Taro Ball, Yakult Green Tea, Brown Sugar Boba Fresh Milk and a line-up of Taiwanese canned drinks; just to name a few.

For those whom have been following us for a while, the Eat 3 Bowls Set is one that shouldn’t be too unfamiliar when we mention about Eat 3 Bowls here — an item that we had been consistently ordering since their days at Crawford Lane. The Eat 3 Bowls Set is one that is designed to comprise of three of their iconic dishes that is served in mini bowls allowing a single pax to enjoy a variety of what Eat 3 Bowls has to offer in one seating; the Eat 3 Bowls Set consisting of mini-sized bowls of its Braised Pork Rice, Pig Intestine Mee Sua and Shredded Chicken Rice. As always, it was difficult to decide whether our favourite out of the three would be the Braised Pork Rice or the Shredded Chicken Rice; that being said, we might choose the former over the latter just by a little more considering how the Braised Pork Rice came with minced meat that had absorbed the flavours of the braising liquid — just the right level of savouriness with a bit of the notes of the spices used as well. The minced meat also came with a melt-in-the-mouth texture, though not particularly gelatinous or jelak to have, while there is enough braised meat and braised sauce to go with all of that short-grain rice that came beneath. The Shredded Chicken Rice did came with a good portion of shredded chicken meat and drizzled with scallion oil; this made the rice beneath easy to have with a nice lingering fragrance that kept us digging in for more, though we did feel that the shredded chicken meat was a little bit on the drier side. The coriander above helped to cut through all of the meats and carbs and kept our palates fresh. Meanwhile, the Pig Intestine Mee Sua felt a little more “liquid” than the ones we have had at other establishments recently, though still sufficiently briny and gingery — the only qualm being the pig intestines still carrying a bit of a stench that some whom are sensitive to it may pick on.

We also shared the Salted Crispy Chicken during our visit to their Causeway Point location; the chicken flesh within the golden-brown batter remains juicy and tender; the chunks of fried chicken also did not feel greasy — there is also a sprinkling of pepper and salt that gave it a good flavour with wok-fried curry leaves that added an additional contrast of fragrance and crispness to the dish. Our choice of beverage was for the Assam Tea — patrons can opt for it to come either hot or cold; we chose the latter, and there is further flexibility offered to patrons in terms of preferences for less ice / no ice and levels of sweetness. Opting for it to come at 0% sweetness and at normal ice, the brewed tea came with a punchy body that helps to wash down all the savoury food. Having followed Eat 3 Bowls throughout their journey in the local F&B scene, these folks had certainly come a long way — whilst we did find the slight dip in the quality of their Pig Intestine Mee Sua during our visit to their Causeway Point outlet, the overall quality of their offerings do seem to have largely remained consistent all these while. Individually-portioned main dishes with the exception of the Eat 3 Bowls Set are priced comfortably under $10, with the Eat 3 Bowls Set being priced at $14.90. Considering how much of a fan of them we had been, the opening of this outlet at Causeway Point is likely to be our haunt considering how conveniently located it is to us!
