Why so cute?
As I flipped through the menu, I knew I had to order Dragon-i’s steamed Piggy Buns that came in a pair with fillings of red bean paste and lotus paste. The exterior was a little thick but the fillings tasted pretty good and worth a try especially if you are dinning with kids (or adults that are truly young at heart).

It is the time of the year again. With chopstick raised and ready for the impending mess, you can’t have a Chinese New Year celebration without the Prosperity Toss/ Lo Hei. Besides being full of colours, flavours and symbolic meanings; this dish with the interesting addition of Japanese konnyaku gave a unique texture without deviation from the taste of the usual sweet-sour Yu Sheng.

Sigh~ How many Yu Sheng can one have in a year?!

At today's lunch table, my family's first CNY celebration across the border and my first time seeing a treasure pot. Jammed packed with premium ingredients such as scallops and plump abalones, the dish was a sight to behold simmering in a flavourful stock and most importantly at such an affordable price~

This brand from KL is similar to Crystal Jade's casual dining outlets. They serve dumplings, noodles, fried rice and a selection of dishes.
I'd say don't bother with their "xiao long bao", a.k.a. Shanghainese steamed meat dumplings (RM10.30). The skin was much too hard, especially on top, and the soup within each dumpling could not fill a teaspoon even if its life depended upon it. If you're trying to guess which one it is in my above composite, don't. It wasn't worth including.
Fortunately, the following dishes faired a little better with my tastebuds:
- Tossed jellyfish with smoked pig shank (RM16)
- Stir fried seasonal vegetables (RM18)
- Fried rice with braised pork belly and preserved vegetables (RM18)
My favourite amongst what we had was the steamed meat dumplings with chilli soya sauce (RM12). Now these turned out to be flavourful and juicy. They came swimming in an addictive vinegary soya sauce with bits of chopped garlic and chilli.
The cooking at Dragon-i isn't particularly refined but with careful selection, a satisfying meal can be had.
