Burpplers working in the CBD will appreciate this takeaway option. Located at the basement of Marina Bay Financial Centre, Ssäm (meaning 'wrapped' in Korean) crafts protein-packed bowls that will keep you fuelled throughout the day. It's one of the most massive bowls we've had — great for filling a big eater's tummy but small eaters might want to share this with a colleague. Head down early to snag their tasty cilantro lime rice and top it with the unbelievably tender 40-hour Korean BBQ marinated beef short ribs ($9.50). Unless you opt out, the bowl is completed with sides of tangy kimchi, tomato salsa, onion lime relish, pickled cucumbers, kimchi and seaweed, and topped with sesame seeds and fried shallots. Prices have been revised since our last visit and the new addition of portobello mushroom to the proteins section will excite mushroom lovers!

If you're craving for a meal with a medley of exciting flavours, this is a good place. I chose half kimchi rice and half salad as my base and beef short rib for my protein ($9.50). I love a spicy-sour combination, so the kimchi salsa, tomato radish and seasoned vegetables in this bowl were right up my alley. I didn't feel it was very spicy, actually I wish it had more of a kick. The beef short rib was very tender, as you'd expect from a 48 hour long cooking time. They are so generous with their ingredients so there's no question whether you'll get your money's worth dining here. Your palate is totally satisfied with this bowl -- there's sweet, spicy, sour and salty all covered here. Just one complaint: I wish the protein, at least, could be served hot. It's so flavourful now, imagine the flavours amplified!

If Korean and Mexican food had a lovechild, this hole-in-the-wall shop at the basement of Marina Bay Financial Centre (sandwiched between Aloha Poke and Four Seasons Gourmet Market) would be it. Ssäm (meaning 'wrapped' in Korean) crafts protein-packed bowls that will keep you fuelled throughout the day. Order the cilantro lime rice and top it with the unbelievably tasty 40-hour Korean BBQ marinated beef short ribs ($9). Unless you opt out, the bowl is completed with sides of tangy kimchi and tomato salsa, onion lime relish, pickled cucumbers, kimchi and seaweed, and topped with sesame seeds and fried shallots. If you have change to spare, add on the Egg ($0.80) or treat yourself to a scoop of Guacamole ($2.50).

Trekked out to Marina Bay today for this. Not the most pretty looking (my friend's looked less haphazard) but wow this was GOOD. I went for the half rice half salad in a bid to prevent a food coma. The lime cilantro rice was tasty but the true stars were the toppings - the beef short ribs was super tender and flavorful, and the sheer number of condiments... There was kimchi, fried shallots, seaweed, pickled cucumbers, sesame seeds, some kind of green sauce (pesto? I think salsa verde but it wasn't spicy). Myriad of flavours and every bit gives you something different. Less than $10 for a huge serving, going as low as $7 for chicken. Top up $0.80 for a ramen egg (another of my faves!) Definitely a gem.

Korean-Mexican fusion kinda yummy lunch! You can't probably tell what's in it with the large servings and variety of toppings all piled up. I had a half salad half kimchi rice base and beef short ribs topped with a Japanese ramen egg ($0.80), then finished off with kimchi, tomato salsa, onion lime relish, pickled cucumbers, seaweed, sesame seeds and shallots (fresh basil is also available but i didn't opt for it). Guacamole can be added at an extra cost. It's great to have the option to have half rice half salad, keeping it healthy and it's filling too! The beef short ribs were so well seasoned and that myriad of flavors from the various toppings kept the whole bowl very interesting throughout my meal! Be there early to grab a seat at one of their 2 small tables or just simply have it to-go.

$9 for a Mexican/Korean fusion rice bowl. Super yums. Love the tender beef slices & the healthy vegetables toppings. They do sell out pretty early.
