Perched atop Publika's outdoor shoplots, The Red Beanbag is home to Malaysia's barista represent, two-time winner of Malaysian Barista's Championship, Jason Loo. While a great cuppa is guaranteed, this cafe has a notable menu of tasty Australian-inspired brunch plates to offer. Here, reach for the Skyscraper (RM17) that stacks fluffy pancakes with chocolate drizzle and fresh fruits — the ability to make something simple so delicious completely wins us over everytime. Another menu-topper is The Atlantic (RM22), French toast that meets the embrace of in-house smoked salmon, salmon pearls and poached eggs. Spend brunchtime here with a close friend, or even make it a girls' day out at the sun-filled cafe that recently introduced a Sangria (RM23) for afternoon tipples. Having been around for over five years now, this pioneering name gets quite a consistent stream of customers so be here early at 11am for a good table — the ones near the balcony overlooking Publika's park.

Calling Pancake fans...this stalk of fluffy pancakes are definitely satisfying your crave to the max!

Heard this is one of the most popular dishes in Red Beanbag but upon trying it I have no idea how it became popular. It was lacking in flavour. The fruits given really wasn't enough to spice things up as the pancakes were really bland. Also the pancakes were too moist so they stick on the inside of your mouth which is my number one pet peeve when it comes to pancakes! Such a disappointment to be honest.

These two are the famous dishes here in red beanbag. Price at RM17 for skyscraper and Rm22 for the Atlantic; poach egg with smoked salmon. Would like to come again to try the other dishes but it's too pricey consider there's tax and service charge at 16% :(

A decent dessert.

Fluffy and flavorful. I love everything on this plate. So appetizing! Heavily recommended.

In my books, this cafe pioneered the KL brunch culture and resets the bar with every revision to its menu (their eggs Benedict is currently on version III). Never once have I been disappointed with the food quality, whether it's my favourite Bella and the Jets (chicken chorizo, mushrooms, balsamic vinegar, toast, a poached egg, rocket leaves), the Super Awesome Fry Up (big breakfast, pictured), best-in-class Skyscraper (pancakes), or firm crowd favourite, The Atlantic (salmon Benedict on French toast). The Red Beanbag serves an assortment of drinks (Smooshies and the hot chocolate come recommended) and an all-day menu that extends to the likes of pasta (My Crustacean Cousin is always a good idea), chicken and burgers, and is perhaps the one place I keep sending friends and family to - confidently. Prices are a touch steep (RM20-30 per head) but well worth every penny because the proprietors strive to source and serve quality produce. My only gripe is that I am not alone in my convictions - this place fills up very quickly on weekends. A word of caution: go early (they open at 9.30am).
