Hailing from Hong Kong, Cupping Room should not be a name that is too unfamiliar with locals here; Cupping Room had first established their very first outlet in Singapore in 2020 — this would be their location at Ngee Ann City in the heart of Orchard Road. Less than three years later, Cupping Room had since opened a second outlet in Singapore; this time located in the Central Business District, Cupping Room’s second outlet is set up within the lobby of an office building at 61 Robinson Road — taking up a space at the corner of the lobby, Cupping Room’s second outlet does have a bigger dine-in space as compared to their outlet at Ngee Ann City. Dine-in seating comprises of a larger proportion of counter top-style seats featuring high chairs, though there are still some usual height seating that is made up of usual dining tables and chairs. The interior decor style is rather different from that of their Ngee Ann City outlet; featuring a largely beige interior, the use of leading lines outlined with wooden accent creates a very sleek, continuous look throughout the entire space. Much like their Ngee Ann City outlet, the Robinson Road outlet only serves up specialty coffee — think the usual list of espresso-based coffee as well as some filter coffee options, as well as some non-coffee options alongside a Chocolate Chip Cookie being the only light bite available during our visit; this would be opposed against the availability of brunch fare at their locations in Hong Kong. All orders served at their Robinson Road come in disposable ware — this means paper / plastic cups for their drinks, and paper bags for the light bites.
Opting for the White Strong, the White Strong is an espresso-based coffee that features espresso with milk. Coming in a 5 Oz cup, this would be a stronger cuppa as compared to the White Regular, which comes in a 7 Oz cup instead. The cuppa was well-pulled; smooth and creamy, the White Strong does carry quite a caffeinated punch — featuring a fruity flavour profile, it comes with quite a bold body, whilst also coming with a clean finish. A pretty good morning perk-me-up here. The Chocolate Chip Cookie that we had went for was also quite a good accompaniment to the White Strong — being a soft cookie, it doesn’t take much effort to break the cookie apart considering how loosely packed the batter is. Warmed up upon order, we liked how the chocolate chips melted to provide that ooey-gooey consistency that was velvety smooth — sufficiently sweet without being overly so, whilst not being particularly “heaty” since our throat did not feel particularly scratchy after having it either. A pretty decent and convenient spot for the busy office folks in the Central Business District to grab a light bite and a quick cuppa to start the day with, despite the saturation of specialty coffee joints that have sprouted up around the Central Business District of the late with most office workers now returning back to their workplace.
