“Chez Gaston” is a traditional French restaurant and bar located in the heart of Bangsar, only a few minutes from Telawi streets and 1 minute from the LRT station Bangsar. Our concept is not only to make authentic French cuisine affordable but to offer a laid-back ambience in which to truly relax and enjoy great food and drinks with family and friends. Our chef Florian Nigen’s family has run a well-known restaurant in Bretagne in France for 30 years. He puts all his knowledge and heart into preparing our wide selection of typical French meaty and seafood dishes along with delicious French desserts to excite everyone’s taste buds. Our attentive and friendly staff make sure that in a charming atmosphere at our reasonable prices everyone can enjoy what various regions of France have to offer. Chef Florian and his team will welcome you to make certain that you have a memorable experience in French Bistro. We do not only offer popular French beverages, spirits, alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails, but also have an extensive wine list consisting eclectic range of wines starting from 21+ per glass. Slow cooked pork tenderloin flambée with brandy in creamy porcini mushroom sauce. RM42 per portion.

My favourite Burgundy dish and it was well executed here. This 8-hours slow cooked beef cheeks in red wine sauce is so soft and tender. The sauce was reduced to a thick consistency which explains why it’s flavoursome and slightly salty to some but we wiped off the plate with slices of baguette though. RM48 per serving.

Warm boiled potatoes served with pieces of bacon bits, Parma ham, melted raclette on a baguette slice served on a bed of green salad. Overall was good and you could find great amount of bacons in it. Wish there were more salad leaves and don’t mind more raclette on the potatoes. But for the price paid, I’m not complaining further. RM22 per serving for small, RM32 for large.

You can’t end a classic French meal without crème brûlée as always. Portion was good enough to share the velvety smooth creme with a decent amount of caramelised sugar top. RM12 per serving.

Served as part of the lunch set or a la carte (still a steal), the fish soup condenses intense oceanic flavours in every mouthful. And while you might think that gets a bit cloying, its mild tanginess keeps you going at it.

The soup is served with a side of croutons, cheese and a super tasty Thousand Island-like sauce to help thicken the soup to your liking.
