Michelin food at Jewel’s upscale food court, only at a slightly higher price point? I was definitely drawn. Try the silky smooth soft tofu cubes in the shallow bowl of mala oil and a healthy portion of minced meat was nice to pair with the plain noodles that were better than your average ubiquitous la mian.
What I really enjoyed was the supporting bowl of clear soup from a Japanese stock that I couldn’t get enough of; I don’t think you’d ever get better quality side bowl soups at food courts.

Very generous with tofu portion. Taste better than average mapo tofu but my tongue felt abit numb towards the end. Recommend to share with other dishes.

2 small bowls of awesomeness. The dry Dan Dan Mian had a beautiful nutty flavor and spicy level was good. Got a bit of minced meat inside too. Mapo tofu was more peppery and also spicier. The Sichuan pepper taste was quite distinctive.

The set meal at chens mapo tofu includes half a portion of their signature Mapo Don, half a portion of their Dan Dan Mien, a small portion of addictive Szechuan popcorn chicken and a can of drink of one’s choice. ⁣⁣

Generous portion of good balance of fermented bean paste with silky tofu and minced meat coupled with moments of numbness from the peppercorn in the mapo sauce over the bowl of rice.⁣⁣

The Dan Dan Mien was well dressed with a different sauce with slight nutty taste of minced meat and a dash of chopped spring onions over the pretty dry noodles that stick together.⁣⁣

Finally got to try it, and it was gooooood. Rich and full of flavour. The savoury satisfying don that I needed. The noodles were darn yummy too. And and and affordable. #BibGourmand

Priced at an affordable rate, you are getting MICHELIN-quality dishes at a fraction of the price when you dine here and you are able to get the restaurant’s signature Chen’s Mapo Tofu and Original Spicy Dry Dandan Noodles, both sufficient to satisfy all of your cravings. The former is stir-fried in a hot Szechwan pepper flavoured meat sauce which goes perfectly with a bowl of white rice while the latter brings the right balance of flavours and texture from the noodles, minced meat and peanut sauce.
