Travelling with Muslim friends adds a little dash of challenge in finding halal food places. With some research, we found a guesthouse in Hongdae which serves up Korean cuisine that uses halal-certified meat. They had great food, but the one that had me drooling was their steamed eggs, made out of a mix of tofu and eggs. When first served, the aggressive motion of the steam is most blatant. Dig into this remarkable creation and you'll find it hard to not love its soft, beancurd bouncy and melt-in-your-mouth texture. I wouldn't classify this as a soufflé though, as it is hardly creamy and more curdy. The bits stuck to the plate had a slightly salty but a charred taste which took me bu surprise for a moment before I began appreciating it. I remember having this on my first day in Seoul, and I already found myself loving the food here. Sigh! (9.5/10)
