Smooth and hearty, this soup really hit the spot after being on the road for hours. The cauliflower was sweet and not earthy (a problem I know people have with cauliflower) and in every other spoonful you'd find little chunks of cheddar. So moreish. I also learned that Bancroft Bites sources local produce as much as possible - the cheddar cooked into the soup is a Maffra cheddar, from just over an hour away. Even the toasted sourdough served with it was from a local farm.
Beer battered whiting with thick cut chips, salad and house made tartare sauce. I'm super fussy and I'm mainly a salt & vinegar girl when it comes to fish & chips - but the whiting was so fresh, beautifully tender flaky and the batter was crisp and airy. The chips were freshly made in house and that made all the difference. I'd eat this again.
