Porcini risotto with a hint of truffle. I personally feel that the mushroom is not that strong in dish which can be improved since it’s key ingredient is mushroom. Overall it does provide that warm, homely and comforting food feel that I expect from a risotto.
Lunch menu only as British Hainan will be serving their menu in the evening. This beef noodle was originally from Wah Eng beef noodles and they have since been collaborating with British Hainan to have their beef noodles available for the lunch time crowd. The beef is really soft and sliced thinly for that juicy texture in your mouth. I really liked the peanut and pickled vegetables added as condiments over the beef noodles which adds depth to the dry beef broth.
They do offer normal non-wagyu beef noodles around $6.50 who those on a budget. Likewise, for those who wants to splurge a little, they have Kagoshima/Kyushu wagyu beef as an alternative.
One of the best places for gatherings is BBQ and Mookata offers a decent spread of meat dishes at an affordable cost. While I liked the umami flavor of the marinated bbq meat at the start, it slowly turned too gelat for me to continue.

A really dark treat after lunch. I like the 80% bitterness and just a tinge of sweetness to it.
This pasta is ridiculously good and the portion is generous. I liked the lemak sauce with chilli padi, it doesn’t feel too creamy and the spice draws you in to eat more. The smoked duck was pretty good as well. The smokiness gave a nice scent to the meat but it did have a texture towards sausages for some reason.
A classic dish nowadays on any Zi Char restaurant. It was buttery and slightly fragrant. What I really liked about this is that it’s not too overpowering; it was just the right amount of umami flavor.
This burger seems really over the top for its price. Double patties with slow cooked pork belly, grilled spam, bacon wrapped sausage and sriracha mayo, it’s one sinful meat dish 🤤. The patties were a little dry but still compatible with the other pork meat above it.
This is still one of the top choice for us Engineers to go out of the way for lunch. Bai nian proves time and time again with consistent quality and taste that you can’t get tired off.
Clean, that’s the word I thought off as I ate this. Surprisingly the rice noodles and the sauce goes well together on its own. Usually I will lean to pho whenever I go for Vietnamese food, so I’m glad to be able to try this.
