Since it is one of the most talked about new players, itâs a good time as any to try it out.
This is the Super Prawn Noodles, so it has everything - egg, prawns, pork, intestines (a couple of pieces were bitter though), skin - so itâs great for big eaters. I am one, and I couldnât finish it all.
The freshness of the ingredients and the generosity of the portion are draws. Mine was all yellow noodles (because for me, it only loses out to mee pok) and it didnât clump, thank goodness.
The umami of the broth was amazing and I made sure I kept some aside for the next meal. Of cos travelling from Golden Mile (where they are at) to Tampines does not help the temperature of the soup, you just need to heat it up if itâs an issue. I was not bothered.
I ordered stuff like the seafood roll and the pig tailâs to make the minimum to qualify for discounted delivery ($30, and $5 for delivery) but I wasnât blown away by those.
There is a vegetable forward section (the tasty vegan lasagna and the always good brussel sprouts are from there), and faves such as the Aburi Salmon, Chicken Confit, and Blackened Fish & Chips are also available.
You can order these items via the newly launched online ordering site e.sprmrkt.com.sg.
They also opened a new outlet in Dempsey - CONGRATULATIONS!! đđđ - so you can plan to visit that outlet once we hit Phase 2!
Rickyâs Rojak is thankfully very near my home, so I took it as a chance to get some fresh air too.
I ordered one with youtiao. The sauce is gooey and not too sweet (which I prefer), although I wish I didnât pay $3 extra for the dried cuttle fish cos it wasnât even toasted.
Rickyâs popular too. There was a queue at 2.30pm on a weekday, so best to avoid meal times. I waited for about 20 minutes for my order.
If youâre planning to check it out, from June 1, it moves to another location that faces St 23. Just as well because I couldnât find the location tag.
And the fried rice. And my fave - the meat and veg dumpling. Should have ordered the chicken soup too!
Never mind, we should be able to dine out again by July, so Iâll save that as a end-of-lockdown treat!
Also, thanks DTF for sending down the frozen Tianjin cabbage/pork dumplings. Thatâs a lifesaver cos all you need is to pan fried them and lunch is served.
The bonus is that itâs so pretty too!
You can order this from halal caterer Manna Pot, and they offer subscriptions which means you can not worry about your meals because itâll get delivered to you. This is excellent for non cooks during this period.
The buah keluak fried rice was as good as ever, and I was pleasantly surprised the Nyonya noodles survived the journey from Great World. Also had a kangkong lemak and an otah, and my day is made đâ¤ď¸
PS: order via https://theblueginger.oddle.me/en_SG/
Good to know I can get my faves in the comfort of my home.
There is an offer now (next pic) which will make it more worth it.
Ok, question everyone asks: tbh not all items survived the delivery. The Har gao skin was a bit sticky, the char siew bun was not as crisp. The siew mai and porridge (not here) fared much better.
BUT this is the new normal and when youâre craving dim sum, you make do.
PS: I have run out of ideas and spaces to shoot dabao stuff, so just move the items to a plate and try. Letâs see how Long before I have to think of something new!
An Impossible Burger is less thrilling now, so Iâm always more excited to find it used in different ways.
Here it is as Vietnamese food from Nam Nam. Itâs a great marriage too because Nam Nam makes accessible non-confrontational Vietnamese food, and Impossible has made going meatless so much tastier for meat lovers.
So combined, wow!
There is the Banh Mi Impossible ($15.90 and my fave!), Dry Braised Impossible ($15.90) and P Pho Impossible ($15.90), all available for dabao or delivery till the end of the month.
Visit impossibleearthmonth.com to find out which other restaurants are supporting this.
Itâs Takeaway & Delivery menu (available on its FB page) has a lot of stuff I like, like the cauliflower and the Pork Ragu Tagliatelle.
Both dishes travelled well, despite making that journey from Amoy Street to Tampines.
You can add a dessert or a beer to your delivery too.
They need a bit of time to get your food going so order lunch before 11am, or dinner before 6pm.
To order, send a message to 9833-4979.
My faves are Macher Jhol (Barramundi with ginger, onions and Indian spices), Lucknowi Murgh briyani, and the dal from the vegetarian menu. These are perfect Stay Home treats!
Anyway, thanks @raffleshotelsingapore for sending the Raffles Experience over! I love it! Iâll return to the restaurant when the CB is over.
Anyway, yĂŹ by Jereme Leung, The Grand Lobby and Butcherâs Block are delivering too. Delivery is free for orders above $200, and all else is $25 per location.
Well, Rumours Beach Club will try time bring a bit of that to you with their Jimbaran Seafood Platter, with grilled jumbo prawns, bamboo lobster, red snapper and squid.
They deliver islandwide (min $35, with a delivery fee), but if you collect from their Sentosa outlet, you get a 10% discount.
Just go their IG highlights for the menu.
Love that they deliver all the way to east Singapore!
As you can see, it wonât be as pretty as youâll get at the restaurant but itâs as tasty and thatâs what important.
And the Bouillabaisse Seafood Stew is delicious anywhere!
