Got this Seafood Pad Thai for $7.95 after discount. The dish was alright - or in the word of my Daughter - meh...!! The noodles were springy, the bean sprouts and the crushed nuts gave it some texture, and it was flavourful. The dish came with 2 shrimps and some squid. Having said, I’m not sure if I’d pay the full price for this cos I’ve tasted better at some Thai Stall in Coffeeshops and Hawker Centres.

The service was bad though. Considering it was almost 2pm in an almost empty restaurant, it took them a while before they took notice that I was ready to order. In fact, I had to get their attention. In additional to this, I was missing my drink when my mains were served. Seems like the staff were more interested in their private conversations at the counters. Sigh, I guess that’s the service you will get when you pay 50% 😅

There’s always time for a light snack of Kaya Toast - even if it’s almost dinner time - toasted brown bread with slivers of cold butter and a generous spread of kaya jam (coconut jam) and accompanying that with a refreshing cup of Teh Peng (iced tea)...!! What’s not to like...??

Ordered the Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio - M5 on the menu - Vermicelli with grilled pork chop, crispy spring roll, meat balls, fresh salad and herbs - and mixed it all up with the sweet and savoury fish sauce dressing - it was sooo good...!! Refreshing, appetising and filling...!!

So I headed over to Mrs Pho to satisfy my cravings.

Usually, I would order the traditional Kaya Toast - but I decided to try something different and got myself the Cheesy Ham and Egg Thick Toast - basically melted cheese over a slice of ham and egg. Wished the egg yolk could be a little runnier and the bread a little thicker though.

This Toast set doesn’t come with the 2 half boiled eggs. When asked how come - the lady at the counter said - the egg is already in the toast..!! No half boiled eggs? How can...?? 🥺

Felt like eating some Katsu-Don. So googled and “Katsudon Hanakatsu” came up in the search. Headed there since I’ve not been there before.

There were only 2 types of Katsu Don on the menu to choose from - the regular or spicy. Ordered the regular bowl with Nanatsuboshi Hokkaido Rice. Was disappointed with their service though - considering that there were only 2 customers at that time, it took them quite a while before I was served. Good thing I had my Netflix to distract me from my hunger.

This is not your usual Katsu Don - The bowl had 6 medium-thick crispy pork and chicken slices f fan our like a flower - on top of some eggy sauce - thinly breaded, tender, crispy and not oily at all. Not bad at all. Went really well with the free pickled radish with yuzu. I liked the picked radish so much - I probably ate 3/4 of it from the pickle jar. 😋 Regretted ordering their Miso Soup though - it tasted more like cabbage soup.

Mommy was at work the other day. As such, it’s dinner with daddy. I think my kids like this place since they didn’t protest when I suggested going there for some Katsu. We used to eat at Tonkichi but have not been there for a while after noticing that their standard and service have dropped - except for their prices.

Order the Ebi Furai and Rosu Katsu - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Something that I look forward to is their free flow tonjiru soup - loved it so much I had 2 refills - and down all these with some Sapporo beer...!! And mommy missed all that...!!
