Panacotta milk tea! Love that it comes in a super cute bottle and I get to keep it after I'm done drinking. Not too sweet and love the silky-ness of the panacotta πŸ˜‹

The Populus Scramble ($17) -- when a place names a dish after themselves you would expect it to be pretty damn good and I'm so glad it didn't disappoint!!! Soft creamy scrambled eggs flavorfully done with different kinds of herbs, marinated feta on top of a flaky, fluffy toasted croissant and how can you miss out streaky bacon!!!! Everything good in one plate. The perfect comfort food for anyone!! Go try it if you haven't!!!

Another new hunt near home, swung by to check out what's in store tonight. Spotted some unusual flavours, and immediately asked to try:
(1) White Truffle - whoa! intense, probably too much for a whole scoop on your own;
(2) Melon & Parma Ham - refreshing, sorbet-like melon flavour that melts away into salty parma bites, very interesting;
(3) Thai Earl Grey - I'm a tea addict, so I'm totally biased. Got a pint of this to-go, had forgotten all about my other love, the Salted Caramel!
🍦 Scoop: S$3.80 (reg) | S$4.20 (*premium)
🍦 Pint: S$15 (reg) | S$18 (*premium)
Thick toasts and waffles available too.

Throwback to a massive internal tasting I had last week at IndoChili (I had all this AND MORE), which, in my opinion, serves up some of the most scrumptious Indonesian and Peranakan delights ever.

I loved practically everything, although my standout faves had to be the curry chicken; amazingly tender leg of meat imbued with a lovely fusion of coconut milk and Indonesian spices, the beef rendang; the meat is slow-cooked for 4-6 hours so it breaks down into this pulled texture that's so toothsome and easy to eat, and the tahu telor; blocks of tofu and eggs are thrown into bubbling hot oil and shallow-fried together until they turn into this mess of crispy, golden-brown goodness, and served with keropok and a piquant chilli-peanut-kecap manis sauce.

But the one dish that really stole my heart was the chicken satay, where skewers of chicken are grilled over charcoal until smoky and lightly charred, drizzled with kecap manis, and plated with the most incredibly delicious peanut sauce I've ever tasted – the gooey, chunky concoction is made from scratch and consists of "peanut jam" and crunchy chopped peanuts. You HAVE to try this!

Everything pictured here will be available at Palette at Capitol Piazza, opening mid-June!

You really don't need to spend a bomb on seriously good Italian pasta. The Wicked Garlic's Aglio Olio is very much raved about, and costs a mere $5.70 on its own! But of course, you'd want to add some prawns (+$6), mushrooms (+$1), or even some bacon (+$1). Even then, it makes up to be a more than decent pocket-friendly meal. Nicely put by Tastemaker Shawn Loh, 'Amazingly wok hei prawns, and wickedly value for money. It's the PSLE top student of aglio olios seriously, why it doesn't have its own Brands Essence of Chicken endorsement deal is beyond me.' Their Carbonara ($8.70) is superb as well!

Located in Beauty World Food Centre is Hambaobao, a burger stall keeping things simple with only 5 items on their menu: Classic Beef, Broiled Dory Fish, Spiced Pulled Pork, Crispy Pork Belly and Ayam Buah Keluak. For wasabi lovers, go for the pork belly burger ($4.50), which is broiled without any oil, leaving the skin crispy and the meat tender, and completed with a good hit of wasabi mayo. For something extremely unique, opt for the Ayam Buah Keluak ($5) β€” a good play on classic Peranakan flavours. With burgers ranging from only $4.50-5 and only an additional $1 for a side of handcut fries, don't hesitate to support these passionate young hawkers!

Sometimes all you need is a plate of comforting, downright delicious pasta. Enter Ah Bong's Italian, helmed by the affable Chef Chris, which caters to that very need by serving a range of fantastic pastas right out of a humble coffeeshop stall in Tiong Bahru Estate — for just seven bucks a plate. Choose anything that suits your fancy, from the dead-simple Bolognese, to the Birthday Pasta — a magical combination of broccoli, cream and bacon. End off with a unique dessert of the day, which sees delightful creations like Earl Grey Crème Brûlée, and wash it all down with a kopi-o from the uncle next door! There are limited portions available each day, so head down early.

Owner-Chef Sufiyan does a marvellous job with the sauce, which expertly balances sweetness and spiciness. Drench it over the tender grilled chicken thigh, sedap!

And blessed Mother's Day to all mummies out there πŸ™†πŸ» #mothersday
