sometimes, it just makes sense to order the plain one so you can taste how the dish is like without all the added pizzazz. and i must say, it tastes really good with just butter and maple syrup. also, fluffy pancakes are excellent sponges for syrups, esp when i like soaking mine in them ๐คญโฃ
i love pistachios so i knew i had to order this to see if it was any good. i can safely say that it was really yummy and didnโt disappoint my tastebuds at all! although, i did wish for some element of tartness to balance out the dish.โฃ
first time having boat noodles and i tried both the red tom yum and the herb boat noodle soup. i very much prefer the tom yum version because itโs less herbally and doesnโt have this weird taste.
each bowl is $0.80++ and you can choose from various toppings such as prawns, beef and pork. there are also 2 types of noodles for you to pick from - glass noodles and rice noodles.
my favourite combination would def be red tom yum with glass noodles, topped with pork balls. ๐

i know iโm late to the game but i finally got around to trying this! i would have expected this to taste overly sweet, except that it wasnโt. the amount of sugar inside this was perfect and the coffee had zero bitterness to it, so a non-coffee drinker like me would definitely be able to down this. iโm also one who loves soya milk, but those who donโt, might find that a bit off putting. โฃ

all in all, those who love their lattes should totally try this. black coffee drinkers might still prefer their regular old coffee ๐โฃ

founded by a 22 year old dude and his dad, this hokkien mee really won my heart. i definitely prefer this over the other popular hokkien mee stall at golden mile food centre.โฃ
โฃ
thereโs sufficient wok hei flavour, and it wasnโt too dry, just the way i like it. however, iโm a little disappointed that they only had the sambal chilli which is more sweet than spicy. the other chilli that iโve tried before packs a punch, and would def be something that spice lovers would like. i also remember seeing pork lard previously, but there werenโt any this time, maybe they ran out of it ๐ฅฒโฃ
i visited this place back in 2019 when it was still a pop-up and iโm still really happy with the food here. so glad they became a permanent thing!
steak ($21) was about 200g, which was tender and juicy when cooked to medium rare. i paired it with the wasabi cream ($2) to give it a little kick and i think itโs my fav sauce of the 4 that they have.
for sides, we got the creamed spinach ($7), mushrooms ($9) and potatoes fried in beef fat ($9). they were all delicious but my fav was definitely the potatoes because they were so fragrant and crispy ๐คญ
honestly, itโs a really affordable place for good steak and sides. worth bringing your date here ๐
itโs really rich and creamy, with the umami flavour from the uni. despite all that, i had no problem finishing this plate all on my own because it does not feel cloying at all. this is a must-try if youโre a fan of uni ๐
this is an interesting twist on your usual hawker fare. the cheese makes this dish a lot richer and to my surprise, thereโs still a strong wok hei flavour which is definitely a plus.
hokkien mee has always been my fav thing to order at hawker centres, but good ones are hard to come by.
i honestly think this stall is much better than ah soon which is actually located at lor 29 as the portions are bigger and the staff are much friendlier.
this plate costs $6, but the portion is more than sufficient for 1 person!! the taste of wok hei is prominent and thereโs also more gravy, which is what i prefer as well.
late post but B&L has always been my favourite and iโve been looking for a reason to try the one in sg after having it for the first time in london.
i think the lobster roll will always be my most favourite dish at the place because the sweet, succulent lobster meat pairs so well with the buttery, crispy bread roll.
iโm drooling just thinking about it ๐คค
the free soup and chilli were great. but the chicken, rice and vegetables were pretty average. honestly i donโt see myself traveling all the way to katong for this. but if i stayed nearby, i wouldnโt have mind.
