The Original db Burger has a huge chunk of sirloin steak filled with braised short ribs and stuffed with foie gras slapped with Parmesan buns. It comes with a generous portion of chunky fries accompanied with their signature condiments.
A convenient place to get your salted-egg fix! Located in Far East Plaza, situated among many good food spots is Susan Chan Food restaurant.
Their signature salted egg pork ribs ($6 with rice) are so delicious that we licked the plate clean of that tasty goodness. The chilis add a good zing to what we're accustomed to.
One of our greatest comfort foods, Soup Restaurant's Samsui Ginger Chicken.
It's a dish traditionally eaten by Samsui women and only had once a year during Chinese New Year due to their low income. The silky juicy chicken is beautifully complimented by the fragrant ginger sauce.
It's the kind of dish that you can't stop eating.
Too pretty to eat. The Antoinette - milk chocolate mousse infused with earl grey tea, topped with a rasperry coulis.
For the mother of all cheat days, go for Brewerkz's King Brew Burger!
Indulge in two juicy beef patties with cheese, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and most importantly, beer chili! It's $34 with a choice of side.
A lunch set that is worth your money is Aoki's Mazechirashi lunch set going for $40++. You should always make a reservation prior and also reserve a chirashi set at the same time as each timing block is limited to serve only 10 sets.
The Mazechirashi is an explosion of amazing flavours. From the sweetness of the rice, tamago and marinated sashimi, to the slight saltiness of the fish roe and uni, and the crunchy coolness of the Japanese cucumbers. Just the experience of eating this chirashi don is wonderful.
It felt as if we were playing a RPG, when we had to look for a concealed button to enter the seemingly secretive entrance of the Horse's Mouth Bar.
What we like here is the ramen from Uma Uma Ramen and the cocktails. Pictured is the full portion of Tonkotsu Ramen ($17++) and they do offer a variety of cocktails which go for $25++ each. You might be able to order some bespoke cocktails to your liking as well!
Overall, the ambience and service is wonderful! Perfect for unwinding with a small group of friends.
This is what we call finger lickin' good! We grew up eating Waffletown USA's fried chicken since our teens and we still do now. Their fried chicken is piping hot and juicy with an extra crisp in the skin. You can choose from joint-wings or full-piece chicken.
We recommend the fried chicken, the sambal fish, and of course waffles!
One of our favourite places for udon is Tamoya. The ordering process is similar as to ordering yong tau foo. You order a base dish (in our case, a large beef udon) and then you add the extra sides (ebi, sweet potato and fish cake tempura). There are many extras for you to choose from. We love the texture of the udon and the taste of the broth which is hard for other places to replicate!
The Roti Prata House used to be a favourite among many but standards have declined. The original plain crispy prata reminds us of eating an oily cookie. But the other pratas (egg and cheese) are still good. The mutton nasi goreng is good as well with generous chunks of mutton.
Most noticeable however would be the poor service. Opened 24 hours from Fri to Sat and 7am - 2am from Sun to Thu.
Everybody knows about the infamous Katong laksa wars but we still stick by our favourite, 328 Katong Laksa ($5/7). The brand has won numerous awards and achievements including beating Gordon Ramsay at the Hawker Heroes showdown two years ago. If laksa wasn't packed with calories, we would be indulging bowl after bowl.
Their light curry broth made with coconut milk really makes the difference. Add a dollop of their signature chili and that seals the deal.
328 Katong Laksa has five outlets all over Singapore and one in Sarawak, Malaysia.
Min Jiang is known for its popular Sichuan and Cantonese dishes and delectable dim sum selection served on trolleys for lunch daily.
The dim sum is noticeably fresh with a "crunch" from the solid ingredients within the dumplings compared to other restaurants'. The ala carte dishes use many premium ingredients (abalone, crabs, etc.) that add a twist to typical Chinese dishes. Pictured is their famed Min Jiang Noodles.
