One of the more affordable steamboats along the Orchard shopping belt at $34.50++ per person for a 90-min buffet. However with their promotion, for every four persons, you actually pay for three, which makes is $25.88++ per person!

With a variety of sliced meats, fresh seafood, beancurd, mushrooms and vegetables, no wonder I stuffed myself silly. All the ingredients tasted fresh and went wonderful with its signature MK Sauce. I personally liked its jade noodles that goes well with both the clear soup and tom yum soup.

If you love your pork, Bazuka Yakibuta's Caramel and Crackling Roast Pork Donburi ($9.80) is the way to go. Each bowl comes with slabs of pork laced with golden crackling, and glistening slices of deliciously caramelised roast pork sitting on Japanese rice. For added satisfaction, add a perfect onsen egg, mix in the yolky lusciousness, and dig right in. Single roast pork bowls are also on the menu for those who favour one kind over the other!

One of my favourite places for Indian food is Curry Gardenn (yes, double N's at the end) at The Grandstand in Turf City. It serves both Northern and Southern Indian cuisine. It has plenty of veggie and non-vegetarian options as well.

Pictured is the chicken set ($6++). For carbs, you can choose naan, chapathi or tandoori roti and for proteins, butter chicken or chicken tikka. I had the butter chicken which was absolutely divine - tender boneless chicken cooked with butter and Kashmiri chili. It went well with my light, fluffy and tasty naan. Mega yum!

onggol Nasi Lemak is a popular supper place as its opening hours goes late into the night from 6:30pm to 2:30am daily but closed on Thursdays.

The stall serves a reasonable variety of side dishes such as fried eggs, fried chicken wings/drumsticks, long beans, luncheon meat, lontong, ikan bilis, etc. The food is cooked in smaller batches to ensure freshness and warmth no matter how late it gets. I personally like how they fry their eggs with care. (Just look at that runny yolk!) Also, the crispy and well-seasoned fried chicken.

The average price you can expect to pay is $5-7 for a decent meal. In addition, please park behind the coffeeshop as it is common for drivers to get fined if they park along the main road.

I was craving from stir-fry so I opted for the chicken pad thai from Thai Gold Food. This place looks as authentic as a Thai restaurant can get.

The dish itself is pretty average. The rice noodles were actually leaning more towards being gooey than firm. I love that there's an abundance of aromatic ingredients and spices as it really brings a sense of freshness to the dish. The restaurant allows you to add as much sugar, roasted peanuts and chili flakes to cater to your preferences.

The folks behind Ramen Keisuke have recently launched Ginza Tendon Itsuki in collaboration with Tokyo's famous Ginza Itsuki Sushi. Brave the formidable queue (we heard the Friday night wait lasts more than two hours!) and go for their Special Tendon ($13.90) with onsen egg, shrimp, chicken and oh-so-many veggies β€” shiitake mushroom, pumpkin, corn and lady's finger β€” atop pearly rice drizzled with a sweet and savoury sauce. All the tempura is battered and prepared fresh on the spot! Bear in mind though, the smell of cooking will blanket your entire being, and you'll walk out an unfortunate stinko minko (and every bit worth it).

La Ristrettos is a specialty coffee boutique tucked away on the 8th floor of Novena Medical Centre. You would not stumble upon this place unless you've heard about this place from friends and family or if you had to visit a surgeon. (I hope it's the former!) It's a pretty quaint cafe with a decent food, dessert and beverage menu for its size.

I tried its Seafood Linguini Salsa for lunch. The sauce had a good tomato peppery flavour. The clams, prawns and scallops were fresh and tasty but not well presented. My clam shells were broken (I had bit onto a small shard) and my scallops weren't sliced properly. The green peppers should have been chopped into small pieces. Lastly, the linguini was plainly undercooked.

It was a decent but forgettable meal. I would stick to their coffee and breakfast menu which seem much more popular.

The light yet tasty minced pork porridge with loads of century egg I was talking about ($3)! I still prefer the one at Bedok 85 with the raw egg yolk! πŸ˜‹

Look at that chick. Doesn't it look plump and juicy? Well that's because it is.

Jew Kit's thick slices of steamed chicken was wonderfully and evenly cooked. The dressing with the chicken stock helps to amplify the chicken's taste for maximum flavour.

The prices for individual sets range from $4.20-6.70 while I had the whole chicken which goes for $28! (Quarter and Half go for $12 and $15 respectively.) The chili and ginger sauces smelled and tasted great. However, the dark soya sauce they provide is way too sweet. I love to douse my rice with soya sauce but the sweetness proved it impossible.

Jew Kit also has an extensive zi char menu which I have yet to try but it looks promising. It opens from 10:30am - 12mn, ideal for supper!

One of my favourite supper places is Wan Dou Sek (揾到食) or better known as 126 Dim Sum in Geylang along Sims Ave.

The establishment appears to be a hole in the wall from the outside but once you go through the PVC strip curtains at the entrance, you see many eager and hungry patrons ready to dig in.

I love most of the dishes but my heart is reserved for the Chee Cheong Fun served with a unique thick sweet sauce, huge King Siew Mais with loads of flavours and crunch, Shrimp Dumplings with the translucent skin and thick shrimps and the light yet tasty century egg minced pork porridge.

I have a few issues with the place. Firstly, there are many food outlets and heh... hotels in the area so parking is scarce. Secondly, the seating in the restaurant is also limited and cramped unlike Swee Choon. Thirdly, poor attention to detail as some of the shrimp in the dim sums are not deveined and you can see that long black colon running through its back.

Overall, great place, great food and opened 24 HOURS DAILY!
