Who said size doesn't matter?

The Big Size Burrata (S$38++) is one of the chef's specials at iO Italian Osteria. The sheer size of the burrata doesn't compromise on the pudgy texture and the flavour is robust. There were loads of stringy Parma ham and rocket leaves that the dish is more than enough for four!

First date of 2017.

Sticky Date Pudding that is! My love for this sweet dessert is unparalleled. PS.Cafe does a fantastic rendition! The steamed pudding was nicely moist (sounds weird but you get the point.) The fullness in the vanilla bean ice cream and the slight burnt taste of the toffee sauce were great.

I'll always have this dessert at PS.Cafe without fail!

The Tagliatelle is one of those pastas that leaves you satisfied and guilt-free. The pasta is just right, neither too chewy nor too soft. It is perfectly portioned for one with a generous amount of duck confit shreds. The sautéed spinach still retains its flavour despite being doused in a wonderful thin buttery hazelnut cream.

There is no GST or service charge here but tips are welcomed!

One of the best Italian restaurants on my list.

Acqua e Farina (Italian for Water and Flour) recently opened its doors at Rail Mall in Bukit Timah. The restaurant is helmed by two chefs, natives of North and South Italy. That means you can get to experience the whole of Italian cuisine under one roof. Hahaha.

The reason why I enjoy this place so much is essentially the authenticity. You can experience the love put in the cooking just by tasting its food. Most of its ingredients are imported from Italy with the exception of some meats due to AVA restrictions.

One of my favourite dishes (it's hard to choose) is the Fettucine Nere alla Polpa di Granchio. It's homemade squid ink pasta with large Sri Lankan crab meat chunks tossed in tomato sauce and cream. The texture of the pasta has a nice bite to it and the crab is absolutely fresh. Licked the plate clean!!! #Burpproved

This amazing meal was hosted by Acqua e Farina. Thank you Burpple for the invite!

Gotta get me some Korean fried chicken loving!

NeNe Chicken has opened their latest outlet at Nex in Serangoon. Back on the menu is the piquant Green Onion Tenders that has a mix of wasabi and soy lemon sauce. My favourite is the Classic Freaking Hot which could really render one to tears. I'm quite the masochist I guess. 😝🔥

This was a preview hosted by NeNeChicken! Thank you Burpple for the invite!

Guilty pleasure.

Felt like I needed to treat myself so I opted for the Tin Hill 150 Day Grain Fed Black Angus Beef Brisket Burger (S$28.50++) that comes with an addictive side of sweet potato fries. 😌

Ordering brisket can be risky as any slight wrongdoing while cooking may cause it to be too tough. However, if done carefully, the collagen gelatinises and makes the meat more tender and more juicy. Thank goodness the meat that was smoked in hay and hickory was perfect.

Together with the faint sourness of the cabbage slaw and the strong confit garlic, this burger is not for the weak!!!

An adventure for the tastebuds.

Wander into PYXIEMOSS, a lively and upbeat restaurant that still exudes sophistication. It serves what I would call Modern European cuisine as the menu offers many unique dishes that utilises new flavours and combinations that will leave you curious as you eat.

Out of the many small and affordable plates, one of my favourites is The Tribbiani. Within the dome of solidified brown butter is a rich yet sweet duck liver mousse, like a fine pâté that can be consumed on its own or together with beautifully crisp focaccia topped with chicken schmaltz (rendered fat). Accompanying the intriguing structure are puffed grains of duck heart and date jam with streaks of Pedro Ximénez (a Spanish white grape sherry).

The dish's heavy hitting elements sound intimidating but trust me, they're good. #Burpproved #BurppleXChope

Simple, affordable and fuss-free tendon!

For just S$14.90, you get a good sized mixed tempura donburi. Not only does it come with silky chawanmushi and rich miso soup, but different types of tempura like prawns, dory, mushroom, assorted vegetables, a supposed onsen egg (mine was over cooked though) and premium Japanese rice. One can choose to have either the original or spicy soy dressing to go with the tendon.

If I ever need a quick tendon fix, I'll be here!

One of my favourites at Mondo Mio is the Gnocchetti in Salsa di Scampi. Besides the perfectly grilled prawns, the sauce which soaks the pasta is a beautiful rich seafood stock flavoured with scampi. You'll eat every single morsel from the plate (well, except the prawn shells!)

I sought after Cafe Organic as it was recommended by many friends. The cafe is small but clean and had a beautiful aesthetic. It was crowded and bustling with tourists so one might have to wait a while to get seats.

I'd totally recommend the superbowls, especially the ones with açaí, they're fresh, filling and flavourful. .
A breakfast dish I'd recommend is The Breakfast Criminal (S$8++), though it doesn't have much proteins except the poached eggs, it's a wholesome hearty meal. The eggs rest upon smashed avocados with pinto beans and caramelised onions on toast. Together with a side of sea salted cherry tomatoes, potato rosti, baby spinach, grilled mushrooms and sprouts for garnish. Not the best but for the price, I'm totally down for it.

Kam's Roast, a consecutive 3 year Michelin Star awardee in the Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau, has finally reached our shores.

One of the standout dishes is the Toro Char Siu (tasting portion pictured on left, regular portion priced at $22.80). It's pork belly that has been barbecued in a family secret marinade. Each thick slice has both layers of yummy fat and lean meat.

Besides the explosive fatty flavours that are to die for, the toro is a bit charred on the edges that give the smoky and burnt taste. If you prefer a leaner option, do opt for the cheaper BBQ Pork (tasting portion pictured right, regular portion is $14.80)! This place is definitely a contender for #BurppleBestChinese restaurant!

Doors open to the public today, 19 Nov at 1pm. Big thanks to Chope for the invite to the preview and together with Kam's Roast for the warm hospitality!

Don't let the pizza's peculiar look fool you.

This pizza looks extremely intriguing but yet inviting. The Pizza con Rucola Pesto is reminiscent of mealtimes I once had in Italy. Not so much of the flavour but the way it's cooked - the beautiful thin baked crust.

As for flavour, it's really bang on. The sweetness of the ricotta balances the saltiness of the mozzarella and salami. Though the green may appear overpowering but the rocket spread and pine nut pesto actually add some earthy savouriness to the pizza. What comes out is a totally addictive dish that doesn't make one "gelat". I mean, I had four slices myself. 😋 #burpproved
