Sometimes you just need to treat yourself.

A succulent Twin Combo which you can choose between soya sauce chicken, roasted duck and roasted pork. I absolutely loved the crackling skin of the roasted pork which was a great contrast to the squishy and soft layers of fat and meat.

The chicken was packing flavour right to the bone. The meat was plump and juicy giving it a great bite to each slice. I'll definitely be back to try the char siew and duck! 😋

HOMG. In celebration of Tamoya's 4th year anniversary of opening its Liang Court outlet, it is offering FREE size upgrades for udon! That means I had this XL portion of Beef Udon for only $10.80 (regular size goes for $10.80)! The difference is that XL is 3 times larger than the regular size. 😱 This promo is only available at its Liang Court outlet and between 17-28th Feb.

This was definitely a treat for me, an udon lover!

Irresistible bar bites at Alter Ego.

This establishment has a number of crazy, ingenious dishes not for the faint of heart.

The Loaded Taters ($13) is a mountain of crispy potato chunks bathing in a generous onslaught of spicy jalapeño cheese sauce and topped off with maple-glazed bacon and sour cream. Do I need to say more but that dish is both heavenly and sinful at the same time?!

Of course, I'd still prefer its original outlet at Pek Kio.

There are a few perks of visiting the restaurant at Esplanade instead of the hawker stall. Those include not having to queue, not having to deal with the sweltering heat (and some say Mdm Tham's wrath!) [Haha she's actually really nice lah!]

The price tag and taste are similar but the portions are not. I noticed that the amount of noodles given is less. Also, the bowl of soup doesn't arrive at your table steaming - something that won't happen at the hawker stall where the food is prepared in front of your eyes.

The food still does the trick though! The prawn mee (medium sized prawns for S$12) left me satisfied while I left with the soup bowl completely empty. I also love the spicy sauce that goes with the big prawns.

I guess you've gotta compromise for convenience!

Might not look like much but it's definitely the star of the meal.

The humble spicy Brussels sprouts was a surprising dish at the first bite. It had a very robust flavour of sweet yet tangy. The chilli jam added a bit of oomph while the minced chicken and chye poh (Chinese dried radish) provided an earthy dimension to this contemporary version of the dish.

It's a perfect bar snack to go along with the many cocktails available at Xiao Ya Tou! #burpproved

One of the must-tries at Xiao Ya Tou!

The twice-cooked Angus short ribs (S$36++) is deliciously good on its own or with the accompanying smashing sesame butter (ermagerd, sesame butter tastes as amazing as it sounds). You can see from each slice that the short rib was evenly cooked and that's because of the lengthy sous vide process. This results the meat having that wonderful bite to it while still being tender.

A new Poké place is in town.

Poke Doke serves out fresh hefty bowls of poké of three sizes. One starts out with choosing the base carb: white rice, brown rice, mixed rice or soba (extra $1.50).
There are also different pokés to choose from! Select Norwegian salmon or ahi tuna cuts coated in the original shoyu dressing, the robust spicy mayo, punchy wasabi or a sesame sauce that goes well with salad greens and tofu.

There are many toppings available including fried shallots, edamame, wakame to premium ones like onsen eggs and avocado.

The medium sized one ($14.90 for 2 scoops of poké + 4 toppings) is definitely filling enough!

Currently, they have an opening promo: 25% for the first 50 customers and 15% for the everyone else. Promo ends on 12th Feb! So chiong everybody!

Soya sauce chicken that's mind blowing good.

It's been a few days since our #BurppleAMKHawkers trail but I can still reminisce the exact taste from my first bite of this chicken.

Expect thick slices of juicy and succulent chicken that's been wonderfully doused in a well-balanced soya sauce marinade. I'll definitely bring my family here to try it! #burpproved

A satisfying steamboat meal at the market.

For $38 (3-4 pax), you get a heck load of fried tapioca, vegetables, egg tofu and a generous amount of red grouper fish. Regardless of what fish you choose, the soup is ever so fragrant and addictive that I wiped out the steamboat clean myself.

Best prata in Singapore. Not kidding.

Nestled in a small coffee shop in Jurong East, it is common to see many people standing around waiting for seats to get themselves some prata. The plain prata was warm, fluffy yet crispy. It's all the things I look for in prata. It's so good you can even eat it on its own but it comes with a savoury chilli sauce and curry. #burpproved

Totally late to the game but I finally tried Tsuta!

I had the Char Siu Ajitama Shoyu Soba (S$22.80) which has a heavier broth than its Shio counterpart because I'm all for flavours.

The soba (which I call ramen) is excellent. I loved the texture and slight chewiness of the noodles. I asked for a bigger portion and it was such a significant increase. Just for $1 more! The flavoured egg is pretty good, as long as it's cooked properly, you can't really go wrong with the flavour. The sliced pork collar char siu tasted a lot like the ham you would buy from the deli which didn't really appeal to me. Even though the soup had Truffle puréed with Truffle oil, I was pretty underwhelmed. I would leave most ramen places with the bowl empty but here, I couldn't really finish it.

Overall, I would say it's good and worth the price but not worth queuing long for.

A molten lava cake with a scoop of ice-cream of your choice for S$9.90 is a definite steal.

Even more so because it's goooood. The warm chocolate liquid just oozed out as I sliced the cake open. The chocolate isn't bitter which would be great for those who don't really like dark chocolate. My only gripe would be that the cookies & cream ice cream tasted like neither cookie nor cream but more like a Straciatella. I wanna go back to Twenty Grammes to try out their waffles too!
