There are almost as many "orh luak" or fried oyster stalls at this food centre as there are oysters in the sea nearby. Ok, that may be a bit of an exaggeration :) Nevertheless, it doesn't matter how many of them there are, because for me, it has to be Song Kee. Theirs is perfectly fried every single time with just the right balance of egg, starch and oysters. It goes without saying they also happen to have the perfect vinegary chilli sauce.

A yummilicious lunch at Viva's Chic-a-boo with non-fatty fresh fried chicken from an offshoot by Aston. I prefer the spicy version, more of a kick than original which is saltier. Thigh meat is tender and white, not a sign of that dark bloody look as you get near to the bones. A must-try! I waited some time for my order though the place was not busy. Perhaps this a sign of freshly fried food and not serving food that has been prepared way ahead of order. None of that soggy oily smell coming from the skin too. Love it!

Perhaps because their lemon tart was fabulous, I had high hopes for this lemon poppyseed loaf.
There was a hint of ginger in here that kept things interesting but the lemon taste was too low-key for me. The frosting would also suit those with a bigger sweet tooth.

I was pleasantly surprised w this rendition! 💜 The fragrant floral hint of lavender blended really well w the coffee & doesn't at all overpower the taste of coffee. The cafe is chill & cosy too. A great place for quiet conversations or to get some work done.

Pretty tender mutton . 👍✨😋

An surprise finding by the food tour led by @eileenongxt. Opened by two lovely couple at year 2008 but serving up taste which tasted like they had been around for decades. Started without recipe, they did trial and error till their satisfaction. .

In their bowl of mixed beef soup (S$4.50), we could find a generous amount of their braised brisket and tripe. By its look, I mistaken that it was a Vietnamese style beef style but the taste was totally different. Good crisp from the onion and bean spout contrast with the tender brisket. My guess is the owners slowly simmered the broth with the brisket and bones for its translucent appearance then seasoned with soy sauce. .

Another of my favorite would be their braised Tendons ($6.50 - minimum amount). Easily melted in the mouth texture which only be achieved after hours of braised. The sauce had a strong soy sauce taste which might not be everyone liking. Best with a bowl of white rice. .

Excellent dish - al dente linguine, a very savory seafood bisque and generous amounts of seafood. Also liked that it was not a creamy sauce, yum.

I was really into this. The "beehoon" had been simmered with loads of beaten egg, large slices of fish, prawns, "chye sim" and some garlic, and boy, did it taste good. Alternating between chilli padi, pickled green chillies and "sambal belacan", I found it equally enjoyable with any one of the condiments. The $10 portion I ordered can be shared by 2 or even 3 people, depending on the number of other dishes ordered.

The traditional Napoleon made with Chef’s signature puff pastry, the strawberry version. It's so good that I'm willing to forfeit my dinner for their pastry.

Looks so pretty.

Satisfyingly spicy and additive chilli noodle (aka prawn noodle dry). Generous serving for $4. Thumbs up!
