Is it just me or is it really this hard to find a bowl of jjangmyeon around here? I loooove jjangmyeon and Guksu makes decent ones, but I'm not gonna lie, this is not really as good as the ones that I tried from the streets of Korea. But if it's really this hard to find, I'm not complaining.

Dish: Soy Fried Chicken (mashed potato as side dish)
Priced at: 29sgd (with the chicken)

I am writing this before having any breakfast and it's totally killing me. This has got to be one of the best mashed potatoes ever. It tastes like CHEESE!!! Somebody teach me how to make this because I need this on a daily basis.

OMG why isn't this a big deal yet?? I know this is just wings and it tastes similar to the ones from Bonchon, but These. Are. Amazing. The meat is tasty and it goes right off the bone so you can maintain some sort of poise, and the skin is so crunchy that poise would be the last thing on your mind anyway.

Plus, they give you plastic gloves to eat this with and I'm a sucker for going all out and eating with gloves.

Dish: Golden Sand Crab
Priced @ 37 SGD

It's not award winning for nothing!!

Normally I don't like crab because I'm too lazy to pry the flesh out of the shell. And when I actually go ahead and try, I manage to disintegrate all the flesh - and all my poise with it.

I'm not gonna lie - this crab is no exception. I still can't eat crab, but MY GOD. THE SAUCE. I can't even.

It's like a thick combination of cream and margarine and I don't even know. It's just SO GOOD.

The trick here is to get hot buns (sold separately), dip it in the sauce, and float away in thick creamy bliss.

Dish: Phad Thai Talay
Priced at: 12.50 SGD

It may be that my expectations are naively low, but I when I stepped into Bangkok Jam one lazy Friday night and ordered phad thai just because I was too lazy to look through the menu, I didn't expect it to taste authentic.

Bangkok Jam seem to have committed right into the flavor of thai food and they are triumphant. The noodles are bodly nutty with that tangy flavor that I never understood where it comes from.

Now let me shut up before I start sounding like a car salesman.

Dish: Pork Katsu Curry
Price: 13 SGD

The pork katsu was crunchy and the curry sauce compliments it well.
The curry sauce was great, but it felt like they skimped a little bit. This is definitely good for 2 people - which is perfect for when you're on a budget. You'll have to fight over the curry sauce though.

Dish: Chicken Galbi Rice (2 servings)
Price: 14.90 SGD (per serving)

Sometimes I would have one of those moments when I just stop and think about how blessed I am and I don't even deserve it.

This is that particular feeling translated in rice form. I can't believe that there would be fried rice, CHEESE, spicy stuff, and chicken all congregating together in a large skillet just for me. And whoever I'm eating with. But whatever.

Name: Japchae
Priced at: 11.90 SGD

Best japchae I have tried so far - and the feeling among my friends is mutual.

I don't get how seemingly unabsorbent noodles could have so much flavor.

Name: Pho Pork Balls
Priced at: 8.90SGD

This is a biased post because i don't like pho very much. I want my noodles to be hard core noodles where you just scoop without looking and start slurpping away. I don't like to wade ankle-deep in basil trying to pick them out becuause I also don't like basil.
This is a very biased post.
The soup was really good though. Just light enough to keep you going without wasting stomach space on water. And the pork balls were great.
