I also tried their Sweet Potato Fries with Sour Plum Seasoning ($9) and this combination is by far one of my favourite sweet potato fries in the world!!!

My sweet potato fries addiction really started when I started living in Melbourne and I haven't been able to find a cafe or restaurant that is able to replicate the standard that I've tried in Melbourne. The Sweet Potato Fries at Craftsmen are very crispy and the sour plum is a really perfect complement to the dish.

It's ridiculously addictive in my opinion and is a 5/5 for me!!!

I also tried the Aglio Olio Olives & Bell Peppers ($16.50) that consists of sauteed garlic, olive, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes & herbs.

The aglio olio was pretty spicy in my opinion and did give off a bit of a bland taste, probably due to a lack of seasoning. I would give this a 3.5/5.

I was having a little bit of tamago cravings and decided to give their Umaki ($14.10) a try.

Umaki, for those that have not heard of it before aka me hahaha - is a rolled eel omelette. Which of course makes sense now because Man Man specialises in eel 🙎 I have no issues wit the eel portion of the omelette. But I did feel that the tamago lacked the usual sweetness that they usually possess.

The eels were thick and you can easily tell that the quality here is not compromised. I believe that once you make your order, the eels are grilled right then and there for you. The resulting outcome are eels that are crisp on the outer layer, and are topped off with Man Man's own signature sauce.

There are 3 ways to enjoy this meal:
(1) With the complimentary sauces at the side that will help to add more flavour to your dish
(2) With the soup
(3) On its own

Of all the 3 methods, my favourite way to have this dish would be with the sauces (they have (1) sweet, (2) spicy and (3) unagi). I'm not sure if there is a correct mixture of sauces to add as I was really just pouring everything into my bowl HAHA.

Found 38 Coffee Lab via Google Maps and am very happy that I visited it!
Coffee was really good, and it was overall a great place to just chill and hang out in whilst doing some work. Will come back!!

I did like it and felt that it provided a very unique taste to the traditional kaya bread. The bread was very crispy yet soft on the inside & well toasted.

I asked for my latte to be in a takeaway cup only because it was really hot and warm where I was sitting at outside. You can imagine my state - I was not perspiring but was just feeling rather warm, especially as I was wearing jeans.

So I asked for my drink in a take away cup because I felt more comfortable drinking out of a paper cup that wouldn't be THAT hot to touch as compared to a coffee mug.

When the waiter brought my Hot Latte to me, he handed it to me and then said 'the next time you dine in, you can't order your latte in a takeaway cup anymore' with a really rather snotty attitude.

I've had meals at a number of cafes in Singapore and even though this is not a request I ask for all the time, whenever I do, all other cafes have acceded to this request. Now I don't know what Firebake's reason is as to why I can't have my hot latte in a paper cup.

Maybe they are running out of paper cups, or that a paper cup is harmful to the environment which is going against your company's going green policy. Or that a paper cup is expensive and you're trying to cut cost.

I'm really not a bitchy & difficult customer and I promise I'll understand if you at least explain it to me with more professionalism. But not only did the waiter not provide any further explanation, his statement was also said with a very cold and patronising attitude.

It seems as though he forgot that I am still paying for the latte. It's not that you're giving it to me for free. And note that I am paying FULL PRICE for this cup of latte. The latte was not valid with the 1 for 1 promo.

Now, the latte didn't even taste good but worst of all was how it looked when it was presented to me!!! Just look at it.

It feels as though they were so unhappy that I asked for it in a paper cup that they didn't even bother trying to present and make it look good.

Seriously, really disappointed.

I ordered the risotto and felt that it was not as creamy nor thick as compared to other risottos I've tried.

It also lacked taste and some parts of the risotto had just the right amount of saltiness to it, while other parts simply had no taste. It was really rather oily and I felt that the taste came from more of the oil than the flavour of what the risotto was actually supposed to be.

And I'm not sure if I'm thinking too much, so correct me if I'm wrong, but the pictures that I've seen online of the seafood saffron risotto all contain mussels, while mine was just the typical clam.

I've looked through the menu and can't seem to find a risotto dish with mussels specifically. So I'm not sure if they have changed the seafood from mussels to clams, or if its because my dish was on a 1 for 1 price, thus I got clams instead of mussels?

Whatever the case is, the clams were really tasteless and lacked freshness. The prawn itself was really good though - it was well cooked & juicy.

But overall, would not recommend to anyone nor order again. I don't even think that it was worth $14, much less its actual price tag of $28.

Visited Acai Beach Club 2 weeks ago and tried their Shiok Bowl ($14.90) (It's actually $14.90 for 1 but thanks to Burpple, we managed to try it at $14.90 for 2 which means both the BF and I had our own bowl so no one to fight over fruits with me wheeeeeeee!)

For the Shiok Bowl, you can choose between the organic acai or pitaya blend. Toppings include matcha basil seed pudding, banana, strawberry, mango, passion fruit, blueberry, granola, almond flakes, walnut, peanut, pumpkin seed, coconut flakes & honey.

I feel that the bowls are super value for money because they're really quite large. And coincidentally, for the shiok bowl, only the large size is available to choose from (in a size perfect for lunch IMO)

Affordable grilled bbq skewers that opened about maybe half a year ago along Upper Serangoon Road. Enjoyed my late night snack here. My particular favourite was the sweet butter corn ($1.20) because I just love all things corn in general and this really didn't disappoint! It was sweet and crunchy, with just the right amount of butter.

Another favourite of mine was the omelette roll ($1.80). It was glazed very well which added a tinge of sweetness to it. Overall, will definitely come back again!!!

I shall attempt to not make this post so lengthy. This is my review of Piccola Stella Batam which is an Italian Cafe in the Sukajadi Region of Batam (yep you would need to take a grab or gojek there!!!)

I was really surprised by the food because tbh I didn’t really expect much. So surprised and happy to know that the cafe scene is rising in Batam.

We ordered the lasagne, diavola pizza (basically pepperoni pizza), fruity yoghurt & pineapple juice. Loved them all and would reorder again but also maybe not because I do want to try other things on their menu.

I write about my in depth touch my heart kind of feelings on my blog too so you can check out the link if you oh so wanna!!!

Wow I haven’t been on this app for a long long time... But anyway. Tried Teppei Syokudo a couple of days ago while I was at ION.

I custom made my own small bowl ($12.60) which has x2 servings of salmon sashimi + avocado.

The food was good in general. Both the seafood + avocado were very fresh.

However, I felt that the bowl was super small... I generally am a pretty small eater, but even for me I felt that I had to purposely slow down on my meal because it seemed like it was disappearing damn quickly?! If I ate at my regular speed, I think I would be done in 3 minutes.

Wow I sound like a monster pig.

Overall, would probably go back, but maybe not make my own custom bowl again. I’ll probably order one of their signature bowls. Maybe that would be cheaper 🤑
