I really love the pasta here and Iâld give it a 9/10 but my experience has almost always been not 100% positive.
Arrived before 1:47pm, was told the wait would be 45 min. Waited 45 minutes and got my table for one person at 2:32pm. Ordered my food. The pasta came 19 minutes later at 2:51pm. Finished eating and was in the middle of drinking my water when I was asked to leave the restaurant at 3:13pm.
In total, I waited 1 hour and 4 minutes for my lunch which I ate within 22 minutes and was then basically asked to leave đ
There was also this Blackhole 5% off the first bill which one of the waitresses asked me to sign up for and gave me the impression I could use it. But the terms and conditions which werenât stated on the website or on the table was that the 5% wasnât applicable on orders that were under $20. So even though the 5% discount is quite small, in principle I felt a bit tricked that only when I was paying for my meal that I was told the 5% would not apply.
I feel that restaurants should be more upfront and transparent with their customers on (1) how long they can spend in the restaurant; and (2) the terms and conditions of their discount promotions. While I enjoyed the pasta and clearly waited quite long (1 hour and 4 minutes) for one plate of pasta, as a customer, I felt quite shortchanged and rushed. Really hope they can improve their communications and customer waiting time so that the customer experience wonât be so negative and frustrating.
Finally tried the fish and chips at Smiths. Shared it with my mum. It was alright. The place had lots of customers and flying pigeons looking for food. The portions here is huge. Food took maybe 15-20 min to arrive. The cod was nice and soft. I found the batter a bit meh and not amazing... It kept falling off the fish. And wasnât really seasoned. Hence the salt and vinegar on the table. The white haired owner also came to clean the table before the meal.
I prefer the fish and chips at PS. Cafe (but thatâs like more than $40 with truffle fries.)

Todayâs cafe hopping adventure takes us to Grand JeteÌ Cafe & Bar at Takashimaya. Itâs been here for a few years but Iâve never eaten here. Been dying to try their Tonkatsu Sandwich [$13++] which looked so yummy online. We ordered an Earl Grey tea [$8++] too. The tonkatsu was really delicious, it didnât have any gristle or fat. Felt a bit let down by the cabbage, it wasnât cold and super crispy like I expected. Didnât really think the sesame fit in with the sandwich and found the bread a tad chewy. The fries were nice but a little salty. The tea was concentrated and bitter but the waitstaff were very nice and topped it up with hot water. The homely ambiance reminds me of the fictional cafe in Before The Coffee Gets Cold. An ideal cafe for a chat with friends or a brief respite away from the crowds.

The savoury food at Bacha Coffee isnât as nice as their sweets. Tbh I found the standard and quality of the food really quite abysmal and sad given the prices and given that we queued 1 and a half hours for this. I really wish Ladureeâs cafe had opened here instead as was the original plan. Ladureeâs savouries are so much nicer.
Pictured: Barramundi Tagine and French Toast with Smoked Salmon
I found the fish tasted quite bland like airplane food. It was also quite fishy. The veggies felt slightly undercooked and didnât really have a roasted flavour or anything to it. It was just really meh and I wouldnât recommend this. The french toast didnât really taste like french toast and the smoked salmon was rather little and not super fresh. Also wouldnât recommend this dish either.
This is the French Toast with Smoked Salmon. Itâs really plain and no frills. There was way too much cheese in this sandwich and the smoked salmon was quite little and not the freshest... The salad itself was quite bitter and the dressing felt like it had been sitting on the veg for a while. Wouldnât recommend this one!
Finally got a table today at this Moroccan cafe after queuing for 1 and a half hours. Was kind of disappointed at the start when we were seated as the area around the first table we were given smelled like pee :( This was our THIRD attempt to queue for Bacha Coffee btw. Theyâre always fully booked and the lines are always snaking even in the morning. We started queuing at ten something in the morning and there were like ten groups of people in front of us đ€Ș
