This aglio olio spaghetti and chicken katsu from Chef B is the BOMB! Consistently hot and crispy! Highly recommend this. If you dine in it’s $0.20 cheaper!

Finally tried the famous two-layered Nyonya dessert, Kueh Salat, from Chalk Farm. The three of us don’t understand the hype (it’s nothing to shout about) or why it’s so expensive (Internet says it used to be $5.30 and now somehow it’s $9?) 🤷🏻‍♀️ The green custard layer is really eggy, and pretty watered down in terms of flavour. It lacks any pandan flavour or fragrance. The butterfly pea extract infused glutinous rice layer is pretty mushy. It would be better if there was more texture and was less soft, such that you could taste each grain of glutinous rice. Verdict: It’s okay for afternoon tea but please support your local auntie at the hawker centre who sells a much more amazing, satisfying, cheaper, more authentic version of this kueh :)

Life’s short, eat cake.

This flakey chocolate covered, pillowy whipped cream and cherry-filled Blackforest cake from Chalk Farm reminds me of the British milk chocolate teacakes.

It is like cherry liquer in cake form! They didn’t stinge on the alcohol though I wished that the sponge cake to whipped cream ratio was a little more.

This caramel creme dessert is sooo perfect. Look at the vivid colour! It’s so fresh and the taste is incredible. They’ve really gotten the balance right, it’s not too bitter and not too sweet. Goldilocks would approve. Also, when you spend $100 with Amex at Suju, you get a $30 food voucher for your next visit!

Love the rice and miso soup here, truly the best. Each grain of rice is massive! Also, the beef at lunch time is $2 more than the dinner price but during lunch, the mains comes with a rice and miso set making it very value for money. Lunchtime on weekends seems pretty packed, and I still like coming here for dinner because the service at night is more attentive!

The six course set includes a grilled fish, two pieces of fried chicken Japanese style, mentaiko, and various Japanese style vegetables (pumpkin, courgette, leafy green veg) with miso paste, and also a spicy mentaiko.

Price-wise, for the beef with rice and miso, another rice and miso, the six course lunch set with two desserts, the total comes up to just a little over $100, really good price for the quantity of food :)

I love burgers and this was pretty mouthwateringly good! I’ll give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars.
The bad: The plating was not that great and the caramelised onions inside the burger were cold, and because the wagyu was quite rare, the burger left a metallic/bloody aftertaste. Also thought the price was a little steep 🤷🏻‍♀️ Wish that their breakfast was all day, guess I’ll have to come before noon next time to try their breakfast menu which looks exciting 😊
The good: The food is delicious and I like any place that serves water. You can also help yourself to mustard etc. The black pepper here is really good 👍🏻 And I like the high ceiling and relaxed ambience of the place. Great, air-conditioned cafe-like place for chilling, casual people watching. Would come back again.

My two highly recommended mains at Cha Cha Cha, probably the oldest Mexican restaurant in Singapore! Nachos and chimichanga = comfort food.

Instagram: Pretty green tea dessert from Yamari by Tsujirihen-Honten.
Reality: Nausea, heart palpitations, stomachaches, headaches, light-headedness, shaky hands and shortness of breath 😭
Pretty intense, bitter soft serve. Warning: the serving size is a lot, I definitely recommend sharing. The soft serve is like concentrated green tea powder in ice cream form. It’s so strong the ice cream stained my fingers! 🍵
⚠️⚠️⚠️ Would not recommend this if like me, you’re allergic/intolerant to green tea and/or caffeine and/or dairy and/or have a sensitive stomach, just don’t, you’ll be very miserable like me 😩 #regrets

Decided to try something different and was not disappointed! The waffles exceeded our expectations, really delicious and fluffy yet crisp on the outside (maybe even better than the pancakes). I thought the fried chicken could’ve been a little bit juicier but it was surprisingly addictive, not that oily or greasy and really generous! The maple butter, although not refillable, tied all of the sweet and savoury together nicely 🍁😌 @clintonst_sg
