I Am cafe has gained widespread popularity, attracting diners by the dozen to their humble, airy space just at the start of Haji Lane. Their unexpectedly good food is what brings diners back again and again, especially for their perfectly battered and fried fish and chips, and exquisite rainbow mille crepe and red velvet cake. Enjoy a nice meal here with a couple of friends! *Muslim-owned, not Halal-certified but Halal supplier

The Book Cafe isn't exactly easily accessible, but its extensive brunch menu, and its consistency in food quality are the drawing factors for its regulars. A veteran in the cafe industry, it has definitely lived up to the expectations of its customers with its hearty, satisfying dishes. If you are a beginner in cafes, The Book Cafe should be your first stop. FYI, it's also one of the few places Burpple co-founder Elisha, loves to work from.

The cake itself is an aromatic earl grey with a nice crumb. They don't hold back when it comes to the glaze which is cool by me because I got a loud blast of that gorgeous intense lemon zing. And that's the way I like it, uh-ha uh-ha :)

Artichoke is one of those cafes you go to for a full-on meal, and is known for packing in surprising Middle Eastern flavors in the best ways possible. Hidden in a gorgeous courtyard, this gem is perfect for brunch or dinner. Go for the Mezze Platter or Lamb Shakshuka for brunch, and the Sultan's Delight for dinner. Finish off with the baklava samplers from Overdoughs next door. Don't forget to make reservations! Photo by Jayne Tan

Always a delight. French toast with just the right amount of honey, apples, while topping it of with some flavorful bacon. It's a beautiful combination.
