To Die For CKT This yummy Char kuay teow is sold at a humble, unassuming stall. You wouldn’t have known otherwise. It’s one of the best CKT I’ve tasted in Malaysia! I like that they added Chinese sausage as well for that extra oomph. This is RM7.50 per plate!

Banana Leaf Rice This place offers a LOT of vegetables dishes. I love vegetables and I always get very limited options, max 4 types(?). So I was happy this place offered a lot. The curry wasn’t as spicy or fragrant as I would prefer. They have Indian rice, which is great. Check out this place if you want Indian rice with a variety of vegetable options.

Siew Yok (RM33) This is also a 3 person's portion of meat. This I would say is quite a big portion. The meat was juicy, and the skin was crunchy. Yum! The restaurant is quite lively at night with people occupying tables for family dinner, and drinking. They have tables inside and outside so you can actually opt to dine under the stars at night at their corner shop restaurant. If I remember correctly, they didn't used to serve anything else other than Steamed Chicken, but even that has changed.

Char Siew (RM33) This is a portion for 3 of Char Siew (BBQ Pork). It's not too small or a portion but I wouldn't say it's big either. Their Char Siew Sauce is quite sweet and you can ask for extra to put all over your rice, if you're that kind of person that is.

Pork Soup The famous yam rice in bukit mentajam open up their outlet in kepong. It was so crowded during dinner hour that you might need to share a table with other diner. The pork soup taste slightly different from the original one in BM but it's still a comfortable bowl of soup to enjoy together with the yam rice.

Fried Rice With Prawn Heard about this years ago but never really think of purposely going to Subang for this. Had this packed as my lunch when my collegue pass by there. I was having a high expectation with the fame it drawn. But, fried rice itself wasn't as good as I thought, rice was a bit hard, probably wasn't fully cooked. It taste quite average. But the chili sauce is the saver of this rice. The chili was really good, I kept getting more and more. And the relatively big size prawn was a plus point. Food: 7/10, Price: RM7.50

Go To Fried Rice Fried rice with enough “wok hei”! Fried egg is also always runny with a tinge of soy sauce, which adds that extra creaminess to the fried rice. Their chilli is also a really good accompaniment to the flavours overall.

Fresh Water Fish Noodles (RM8.50) Tangy, sweet and creamy, Uncle Weng’s fish head noodles is a hit at this corner hawker shop. He’s too generous with the noodles, and though the deep-fried pieces of fish are soaked in the piping hot soup, it still retained its crunchiness – it was nice and salty too!

Steamed Chicken Rice (RM6) Half chicken rice and half economy rice, this stall at Restoran Tuck Tuck Tei is brimming with customers! With over 20 dishes to pick from, I still went ahead and ordered my forever love – chicken rice. Though not stated, I think they use kampung chicken here as the meat is slightly tougher. Love the sweet soya sauce drizzled over the very yellow (chicken fat maybe?) rice and the piping hot bowl of chicken and bittergourd soup on the side.

For an All-Star Hawker Centre Tuck Tuck Tei first shot to fame when its young, handsome owner took apprenticeship at the chicken rice stall it houses. The 'chicken rice prince' surely contributed to the restaurant's initial popularity but it was the quality local food and airy, laidback environment that kept people coming back. When stumped for ideas to lunch with a group of colleagues, turn to the sheer variety here. The Roast Chicken Rice (RM5.50) is popular for the smooth, fleshy meat with aromatic rice, but the same stall also offers an attractive spread for good old economy rice. A full plate of three dishes will cost you between RM5 to RM7 — quite a steal! Alternatively, a small sheltered stall outdoors peddles delicious Chee Cheong Fun (from RM2). The secret's in the sauce. A duo of brilliantly red sweet sauce and fiery chili sauce perfects the dish. Avg price per person: RM10

Beef Rendang + Squids Nasi Dagang Very generous with gravy, beef rendang are on the sweet side. Worth trying, and will come back to try their other dishes.

Nasi Dagang Nasi dagang cost RM9.90. You can choose what you want to add on; fish, chicken, prawns or squid. I chose the squid which cost RM11.90. The portion isn’t very big and it isn’t very spicy.

Fried Banana Fritters Pisang goreng @ Fried banana fritters with light and crispy batter. Rm1.40 each

Worth The Wait! Queued 15 minutes on both occasions I had this since it is one of the most popular food stalls in Brickfields area. The pisang goreng (RM 1.40) is excellent. Crispy batter on the outside and banana being soft and sweet as they use the pisang raja variety. The fried nian gao (RM 1.40) is good (was not too chewy and sweet) as well as it’s nian gao, tapioca and yam in one fritter.

Kuih Bakul The famous kuih bakul and pisang goreng store in Brickfield. Uncle that fry those yummy crispy kuih right infront of you. Pisang goreng that not in frame taste so good. MUST try

Coconut Chicken Soup (RM18) Probably not the cheapest but you'll understand why once you unearth the treasures within! In addition to the big chicken chunks (wish these were more tender though), you get lots of Chinese herbs like dang gui, cordyceps flowers and wolfberries. The resulting soup is super nourishing and flavour-packed. Most diners here get one soup and chicken rice plus a side of siew yoke to share to enjoy more variety.

For Chicken Rice With Soups Unless you live nearby, it takes dedication to come this far to Segambut. But the trek is worth it for a hearty, group-friendly meal at the streetside Zheng Kee. The zinc-roofed stall is led by its meats, with the Steamed Chicken (from RM16) in the spotlight for its soft, yellow skin and supple flesh, especially if you opt for the capon bird (from RM22) — castrated chickens known for juicier meat. The crowd favourite, however, falls to the Siew Yuk (from RM16) that earns the Burpple community's stamp of approval with its cookie-crisp skin. The fatty layer beneath alternates with tender flesh to gives it points over the less impressive Char Siew (from RM16) here. Beat the heat with a herbal soup, their signature Coconut Chicken Soup (RM18) is served in a coconut husk chock full of healing, herbal goodness. Roast Meats The sio bak here fared much better than the char siew. The crackling on the roasted pork was mmmmm... Biscuity and fills your mouth up with that addictive lardy aroma. Would pick that over the char siew any day!

For Crispy Fried Chicken Under a Tree Spot the yellow grills under a giant tree that’ll lead you to Segambut’s hot fried chicken spot. Dive straight for the Fried Chicken With Rice (from RM11) that sees crispy and golden skin over juicy meat. You can also order these deep-fried babies sans rice – perfect for protein-heavy days. For Addictive Fried Chicken Rice Fans of fried chicken, make a beeline for this nondescript Segambut stall. Affectionately known to regulars as the 'drug chicken' (it's super addictive!), the Fried Chicken (from RM4.80) here is the stuff made of crunchy batter and moist, tender meat. From the plethora of parts to choose from, go with Burppler Amayzing's usual order of Double Whole Chicken Leg (RM17.60) that's best for value and super yum! Apart from being our favourite part of the chick, the upsized portion also guarantees there is enough chicken to go around for seconds. Don't let the lacklustre looks of plain white rice disappoint you, it packs enjoyment when had with their fiery chilli sauce.
