The eggplant was dried and crispy and went well with the floss and the added mayo, which lent some moisture to the dish
I needed this to erase sad memories of a recent chilli crab dinner where the crab didnt quite "fill the shell". Am energised by this dish, and found the prices reasonable S$55 per crab (around 1kg each)
It has a more full bodied taste than shabu-shabu, but gives me the same amount of joy dipping the thin beef slices quickly in, and out so that they are just underdone. And in between making the meat swirl and swim I get to figure choose which veggie I would fish out of the pot next. Making the pot bubble furiously for a while (pic 3) is also part of the fun...
It was meaty, fresh tasting and recommended (which are three descriptors I sadly cannot quite confer on their teriyaki squid π)
One of the better kept secrets in Clementi is this #NasiPadang. I found the beef rendang I had for lunch to be full-flavoured tender and still juicy. It goes well with the sambal goreng and the sayoh lodeh (and makes the overall meal a little more 'plant derived'). The bergedil is just a recurrent weakness of mine. Hehe, hard to go no carbs with goodies like this. They were pretty generous with the sambal tumis when i asked for it.
It cost me $7.50 for this 'the works' lunch. $15 in total cos I lunched with an old schoolmate!
When you are next at Tian Tian Chicken Rice in Clementi take a look at the adjoining Nasi Padang Stall. I have not been disappointed yet here!
