Their Signature Jade Noodle Claypot Flower Clam ($12.90) looked really intiguing with its greenish hues. Taste-wise it has quite a spicy aftertaste so spice lovers would probably love it + lots, and i mean LOTS, of clams
Their Herby Chicken Wing ($6) was fried to a good crisp and the meat was juicy too. Didn't exactly feel any hint of herbs but the chicken is good by itself anyway

This is kind of a semi-buffet concept where you order a set meal comprising a sumiyaki (charcoal-grilled) main, miso soup, onsen egg and japanese rice, which would then give you access access to the free-flow salad bar with more than 25 side dishes to choose from. Highlights for me from the salad bar were the cha soba, marinated beansprouts and the coffee jelly! Not really a coffee lover but dang, the coffee jelly was on point! The main featured here is the Charcoal Grilled Marinated Miso Halibut ($18.90++) although they have cheaper mains starting from only 9.90++

Thankfully, it did impress, with their secret "B+ sauce" and the tasty 130g beef patty in particular pulling their weight well. Nothing special about their buns though which are apparently made from potato flour

Their Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen ($12.80++) has a really hearty broth and their chashu is one of the best you can find in Singapore too. Free flow hard-boiled eggs is available at this restaurant too

A few weeks ago, they re-launched their Chicken Rice Gelato ($5 single scoop) flavour in celebration of SG's 54th birthday since the chicken rice is such an iconic dish (i doubt it's still being sold though). To blur the boundaries between chicken rice and gelato, dark sauce and actual rice bits were scattered throughtout the tub of chicken rice gelato! I feel that this is the kind of flavour that may be an acquired taste. The first few scoops tasted interesting but after a while, feeling the taste of dark sauce and rice bits emneshed between the cold gelato felt weird; after all we are all used to eating chicken rice warm/piping hot .

And there's even japanese mountain yam hidden beneath the yolk. The sashimi may not have an icy feeling like some others out there but it was really fresh. Be warned though, they only serve 20 bowls of this a day

Of course, portion-wise this isn't really going to fill you up unless you finish everything including the broth. Speaking of the broth, i would say it seems to be deliberately made more accessible in a sense for people with weak spice tolerance. It's definitely milder in spiciness, and devoid of sweetness, compared to the typical chilli sauce you see in a normal chilli crab dish. This is the kind of dish that is worth trying once for the novelty factor (for hardcore ramen consumers like me lol) but never again because $28++ for one crab claw, 2 mantous that are half soggy from being dipped in a broth that is not much different from a typical tonkotsu broth too, ain't worth it
For the record, Ippudo's still my joint favourite ramen place (tied with Ikkousha) in SG

These assortments of rice are part of their D.Y.O rice/noodle bowl concept ($9.90 for regular, $12.90 for medium and $15.90 for large). I had 2 regular bowls with garlic butter (front) and cilantro lime (back) flavoured rice and the rice did pack a good amount of these flavours. I wasn't really that impressed with most of the other components of the D.Y.O dishes though, aside from the fried chicken (front). The creamy custard egg (front), while a a creative invention, felt a bit out of place, what with the taste of custard coming out of something that was meant to be an egg dish. The oriental chicken thigh (back) while supposedly made with herbs, didn't have any particularly special taste and was rather forgettable. Oh well, the staff did mention that she prefers the duck options over the chicken options for the protein choice; guess i'll try that instead the next time i return
