I decided to try Bergs again after many years- my previous run in with this brand was their lamb burger- I’m ambivalent about this Miss Piggy burger I had. It is juicy, yes, and well-constructed in terms of buns to ingredient ratio. However it failed to impress me; the thick-cut fries however were yummy and delightfully salty. It’s a good burger joint if you’re desperate, but it’s not a place I’d return to anytime soon.

I’m now possibly 50% cheese and 43% crackers (and 7% ham).

I included mostly safe cheeses I enjoy (ie no pungent cheeses!)- Red Leicester, Padano Grano, Brie and Cheddar with whisky, along with some salami and coppa ham, and different crackers, dried fruits and even candy and chocolate. I even made little flags to describe the cheese and invite conversation.

Manle is one of my go-to steamboat buffet place (apart from Guofu). I love the spread at Manle which not only include a wide array of seafood but also some yummy cooked food like braised pork, steamed fish and even laksa on certain days. They have a more centralised branch at City Square Mall so no excuse not to check them out!

Every ingredient is boiled and then tossed in a spicy peanut butter sauce in my bid to use up a jar of peanut butter. Sauce recipe: creamy natural peanut butter, vinegar, soy sauce and spicy mala paste, hot water. Honestly, I went with my gut in making the sauce and flavoured according to my preference. The vinegar and hot water loosens up the mixture to a sauce consistency.

Lusciously thick peanut butter and jam open face toast - not something commonly available. A warm sticky mess for idea with some black coffee for a midday treat. .

We added on some mushrooms, vegetables and beancurd skin and the bill came up to about $56 with drinks for 2. The 小辣 is just spicy enough for me the beef brisket is tender and a good change from the usual porky mala we would pick. Even though this joint has a buffet option at $27.90++ per pax on weeknights, we didn’t feel we could eat enough for our money’s worth since the base pot is just enough for 2 pax. However, I would totally revisit with more friends in tow so we can split the base pot and still have room for sides! Gather more friends *hint* @kayelle_ @must.love.pugs @van.kumar .

Made a simple 5-ingredient lunch today with roasted broccoli and mushrooms, microwaved edamame, canned tuna chunks and raw baby spinach. Drizzled with lemon infused olive oil and sprinkled with lemon pepper herbs, this lunch has been utmost satisfying and tasty. .

The variety is quite small compared to my usual haunt at 313 Somerset l, but the 小辣 is just nice for me. Would return for the individual set meal if I’m in the area and craving MLXG, but not sure if it’s worth travelling to town for. Love the bowl though, uber regal. .
