Mango Kakigori Lunch / 11 Jan 2018: kakigori on a cold rainy afternoon is always a happy affair, esp the pretty decent one here. Itâs really sad that thereâs so many bingsu shops here but so few kakigoriâs. Can someone bring in more kakigori flavours pls?

Chocolate Delight, a seasonal flavoured kakigori from Babao Dessert, situated between Raffles Place and Clarke Quay MRT. Whilst the apex chocolate cube tasted cheaper than a Serangoon Road roadside knockoff and the flavours at hand are much richer than their usual kakigori offerings, the Chocolate Delight (with a chocolate ice cream core, no less) should provide a reasonable cocoa-laden diversion from the heat. 3.4/5

Another House Specialty - Durian Sago! Finally got to try another house specialty at Babao during our latest visit - DURIAN SAGO. This is not any durian sago that you will get elsewhere, using real puree and chunky flesh of D24, every spoon is full of authenticity and richness. Guaranteed that it will be as satisfied as eating freshly opened durian. Full review on: http://www.thejulietmike.com/2017/11/16/babao-dessert-matcha-durian-kakigori/

CHRISTMAS SPECIALS AT WOLFGANGâS STEAKHOUSE This Christmas, Wolfgangâs Steakhouse is serving their Christmas specials for two, starting with an appetiser of either the Waldorf salad or cream of cauliflower before a choice of entree which we chose the USDA roasted prime rib served with beef jus and cream horseradish. The main highlight of the meal was beefy and nicely seasoned which is served bone-in and you can gnaw the meat off the bone which has the most flavours. Accompanying sides include sliced honey baked turkey ham that is juicy and tender, baked sweet potato, sautĂ©ed wild mushroom that has an umami touch and sautĂ©ed haricot verts. End the meal with a dessert of ube tiramisu.

Juicy Portahouse steak Went to Wolfgang's steakhouse with a few of my colleagues. Ordered a portahouse steak for the mains. This is the portahouse for 3 and it's enough to feed 4 people. It comes with the sirloin portions at the sides and the fillet mignon portions in the middle. The fillet mignon parts are better than the sirloin parts. We had it medium rare and it was perfect. The service staff was particularly helping in recommending that the portahouse for 3 was indeed the best value because it comes with a better ratio of fillet to sirloin, and informing us that it is enough to feed 4 people.

Mango Green Tea!! Opted for the mango green tea (which had chunky mango bits in it) and strawberry jingsyuan tea (comes with strawberry bits too)! Recommend both of these drinks! We actually wanted to try their new yoyic drinks but they seemed to have run out of supply for it when we visited the outlet

Vegetable tempura don is really good The flavours of this dish, especially with the spicy sauce, are so addictive and tasty. I would definitely come back for more.

Baby cockroach in udon We had salmon chirashi don and mixed tendon with udon. Food was nice. However, my partner found a baby cockroach in the udon. We were disgusted and complain to the staff. They were kind enough to give a full refund, but we are still shocked and apalled that there is this lapse in their food hygiene practices.

Aburi Salmon Mentai Don was good! Been some time since I've dined at this place, and decided to try something different as well! I had the Aburi Salmon Mentai Don ($12.90) which had a substantial amount of salmon chunks with Mentai sauce which was bursting with mentaiko flavours! Definitely enjoyed this bowl especially with the extra tempura flakes which added extra texture! The mixed Tendon bowl used to be my go-to, but it seemed like the portion has decreased and prices increased. The bowl is still not bad and the fried chicken fillet is definitely still as juicy.

For Casual Modern Australian Fare on Beach Road Opened by the folks behind Cicheti, this casual bistro in South Beach is ideal for meals with loved ones (furkids included). Order their creamy and crispy Mushroom Gnocchi ($23), a side of crunchy Caramelised Brussel Sprouts ($10) and sous-vide Pollo with Couscous ($26) for a hearty meal. Sweet-tooths should go for the Banana Hotcakes ($21) that's best shared. Psst. The outdoor seating is sheltered, so you and your pooches can stay cool in the heat! Photo by Burppler Alicia Ng

Sticky Pork Belly ($25) First time at Fynnâs and didnât expect to see this Thai inspired dish on the brunch menu. Fynns by Chicheti A casual bistro that serves up decent dishes with great service and wont break your wallet. From top to bottom we had mushroom gnocchi $23 caramelised brussel sprouts(yummy!) $10 and pollo with couscous $26 Gnocchi was crispy on the outside and creamy like inside which i found delicious and the sousvide chicken was cooked to near perfection. The game changer was the brussel sprouts which were crunchy with the right amount of sweet and tangy. Ended our meal with their banana bread and coffee Total damage $87.. worthy even without a deal

Ongoing @ Birds Of A Feather. Chef Eugene See informed us that the Charred Marinated Octopus (SGD $32) would soon be removed from the menu, as the season was ending. . This features a whole octopus leg, perfectly grilled then marinated in Sichuan pickled green chili salsa, sun-dried joyn tomato, feta cheese, and baby arugula / rocket leaves. . Paired with toasted charcoal pita bread and spring onions, you mix everything together and stack it within the bun. . This has soft springy juicy crisp textures, with lovely bready earthy savoury sweet vegetal herbal sour flavour. . . . Ongoing @ Birds Of A Feather. The Oxtail Mapo Tofu (SGD $38) was delicious, hearty, and filling. Served in a hefty stone bowl (which keeps it warm), the large bone-in braised oxtail has meat and tendon which just falls off the bone. . Together with the rich mapo tofu (with tender minced beef and soft silken tofu bean curd) and its garnish of crisp spring onions and crunchy white sesame seeds, this carries rich meaty grainy savoury salty sweet spice vegetal nutty flavour. . Accompanied by a bowl of soft fluffy moist steamed white rice dressed with crunchy black sesame seeds, carrying grainy sweet nutty flavour. . . . Some Hits, Some Misses The flavours of the dishes are fairly consistent, over our 2 visits. However, the portions of some of the dishes are fairly small, and would not be enough for most people. Some must-try dishes are the Maui dream (croissant with crab and scrambled eggs) as well the Oceans of Mentaiko.

What Is Your Favourite Type Of Fried Chicken? Fried chicken is life. This dish is so iconic that almost every country has their versions of it. Everywhere you go, there is always a fried chicken you can fall back on if you want some comfort food. This is my first time trying Yardbird Singaporeâs Chicken & Waffles which comes with 5 huge pieces of chicken that will be good for 2 pax sharing. The marination has seeped into the meat, making it very flavourful from each bite, and you can pair it with the honey hot sauce, classic American style. To go with the chicken, it comes with cheddar waffle with bourbon maple syrup and to cleanse your palate, there are cubes of chilled spiced watermelon. If you are there with a bigger group, there is also the whole bird option.

Ice cream (complimentary for birthday) Surprised the ice cream was ok. Overall there's really no reason to come for the food, idk why ppl are hyping it up so much. You're paying a significant sum for subpar food. I didn't try the fried ckn so maybe that's their only saving grace, but idk why anyone would pay such a ridiculous amount of money for that either. If you must, come for the service. Some(the name of the Korean lady) was absolutely lovely throughout the night
