HANDS DOWN FAV French toast 🍞 📍Clarke Quay u know it’s good when u nearly cried after finding out it closed down 😭😭😭 just wanna do a review anyway for the memories they have sweet & savory options for the French toast; I’ve tried both. The sweet one comes with lots of berries, the savory one has BACON STRIPS and yes I prefer the savory French toast! The bacon went really well with the sweetness of the maple syrup AND the toast itself was super fluffy and warm with a slight crisp on the outside. an absolute masterpiece. I’m honestly so sad it closed down 😭

Every So Often I come to ronin every so often (as the title indicates) and it’s kinda a hit and miss with the scrambled eggs. I used to think the scrambled eggs were like the best in Singapore because it was runny like the Gordon ramsay style (if you know you know). But these days, it’s only like that half the time. Mushroom, bread and drinks are still good tho.

Savoury French Toast Although its called Savoury French Toast, its more of a sweet and salty meal. The toast with butter and syrup is so yummy I wouldn’t mind if they just gave me more of that. At first I found the braised apple kinda weird, but it cuts through the oily and saltiness of the bacon so it becomes a cycle of sweet and salty which is nice.

Little Diner Truffle Fries ($16.50) Small - $9.50 Large - $16.50 Like what other reviews mentioned, these fries were indeed a little soggy and oily. The smell of the truffle however was really strong as the dish arrived :o Taste wise was alright.

Ratings: 6/10 • Chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice-cream drizzled with chocolate syrup. It tastes like any other typical lava cake with vanilla ice-cream that you can find anywhere. Nothing fancy/great.

Old School Mac & Cheese ($16.50) Macaroni Tossed in Yummy Triple Cheese Sauce, Topped with Crispy Breadcrumbs Baked till Golden Brown.I love the fact that the sauce was a good consistency. Thick, Creamy, Velvety and Cheesy. Pasta was al dente. Overall I give it a 7/10. Another dish worth trying is the "Krusty Krab" Benedict ($19.50). Golden Crabcake Pillow with Chipotle Aioli, Crispy Bacon, Grilled Asparagus, Poached Eggs & Hollandaise Sauce on Toasted Brioche Bread with Side of Baby Green Salad. Spicy Sweet Crabcake, Crispy on the Outside and Soft in the Inside accompanied with the Creamy Buttery Hollandaise Sauce and Toasted Bread was a perfect combination. Overall I give this dish 8/10. A dish you should stay away from is the Truffle Fries ($9.50 for small). Fries were like Soggy(?) Maybe cause they are Handcut. Truffle taste was like not present while the taste of Garlic was strong. Feel like they should rename it to Garlic Fries instead. Overall I give it a 4/10.

Bravery Chicken Ragu Bravery Chicken Ragu ($18) features a piece of herbed chicken thigh on top of al dente spaghetti tossed with mushroom and roasted vegetables in creamy ragout sauce. The chicken is tender and moist, while the sauce is creamy but not too heavy. Cream pasta is not usually my first choice of pasta but this was enjoyable. The portion is very generous as well. Yums!

Lavender Latte ($6) Your typical latte but with the fragrance of lavender. Coffee was standard but the lavender made it quite unique - it was an interesting coming together of the aromas. The dried lavender bits can be quite strong so you may want to avoid actually chewing into them if you’re not a fan of strong aromas. I wouldn’t get this again but it was interesting to try. Visited on an afternoon of a Public Holiday and the cafe was not too busy, had some seats available for my friend and I. Staff were friendly.

BBQ Beef Grilled Cheese Sandwich Portion was huge and the entire sandwich was oozing with the beef brisket and cheese! Think they used like 3 different types of cheese but with the flavour from the beef brisket, it really wasn’t overwhelming at all. It comes with real hot soup in a mug (cute!). We got the mushroom soup which was also really nice and full of flavour - kinda feels like it just warms your soul?

Good Ol’ Eggs Benny Had the eggs benedict with stewed spinach! My eggs were perfectly poached and runny and the hollandaise sauce was yumz but tbh I’d skip the spinach - felt like it was unseasoned and it didn’t really work with the whole dish. Oh but I really really like the roasted potatoes!

Gluten-free & Dairy-Free Quite impressed with their menu. I think their offerrings are more interesting and inventive than most cafes, which is commendable given that everything gluten free and dairy free. We had the King Crab Benedict and Mountain Yam Rosti. Both lovely. I actually distinctly remember enjoying the gluten free bread that came with the benedict. It had a nice chewiness to it, and was great for mopping up the hollandaise and egg yolk.

Remembering Karafuru I was combing my Favourites folder in my phone and I came across this picture from the pre-Kumoya days, when it was known as Karafuru. Their eclairs* were much longer then, and they embodied a wisp of sweetness, which is common among Japanese desserts. 🌬 Not complaining though. I'm glad that they've adjusted towards a new direction cuisine-wise, and under a new name, Kumoya Desserts. This has undoubtedly made them more inclusive of Muslim patrons…or some might dub them the 'halal warriors' hahaha. Anyway, I wonder what Kumoya is up to these days. I love how all the fizzy bubbles cocooned the raspberry. Fiizzzzyyyy business~~ @karafuru_desserts Is really one of the best places for dessert cause of their cool collaborations with different businesses. This time they paired up with Etude House, so you get 20% off one of their makeup sets. Plus it's so girly. My favourite!

Hope the closure is temporary! This Daizu parfait consist of a yogurt soft serve, creamy soymilk pudding, chewy black sesame dango, sweet dark grey crumbly sables/cookies and a white miso soufflé (or kinda more like savoury pound cake), all sitting on a bed of kuromitsu which is probably the Japanese version of brown sugar syrup. The combination sounds pretty deadly for a diabetic but the pudding and cake are quite plain to offset the saccharine from the syrup and sables. The crispy rice stalks were a delightful crunchy treat, and the kinako sauce in the little side jar for drizzle really helped dealing with the sour soft serve. A beautiful "zen garden" dessert with complex textures - will we ever get to taste them again?

Black Glutinous A neighbourhood ice cream shop at Bukit Batok, popular among the people living in this area. Pretty small shop but you would find some interesting flavours like this one. I love black glutinous itself as a dessert and definitely open to this creation. Surprisingly it taste great as well.

Durian & Earl Grey Ice Cream Ice cream shop located beside the hawker centre. Ice cream was light and creamy. Loved the durian ice cream in particular $7.40 for both scoops (+$0.80 premium flavour)

an old favourite [8/10] a tiny neighbourhood jaunt that i used to frequent a lot, but haven’t in a long while. stuck to my usual order of waffles with biscotti (premium, +80c) and earl grey ice cream (total $10.70). the biscotti is sweet but not too much and the earl grey is creamy yet fragrant. their ice cream never disappoints but the waffles seem to have dropped in standard in terms of taste, but the texture is still just right. will be back.

Green Tea Bingsu ($13.90) All-time fave!! The ice simply melts in your mouth with the green tea topping :D Tastes just right without adding the condensed milk. Satisfies two tummies!

O' Ma Spoon I never thought that I would happen to describe shaved ice as soft, fine and in a sense, fluffy, but that was what O'ma spoon's bingsu felt like. Their matcha flavoured bingsu was heavenly! With saccharine milk drizzled over it, almonds and cashew nuts scattered atop, and topped off with a scoop of matcha ice cream, it tasted as divinely as it looked. Seems like they've gotten themselves a new fan. 😁

Irresistible chocolate Banana Brownie Bingsuuuu Chocolate with brownie will never go wrong, and there is always space for dessert after dinner... this bingsu's shaved ice goes well with the milk and when it melts in your mouth... shiok.

matcha mochi bingsu really enjoyed this!! the matcha powder was slightly sweetened but still retained the bitterness. ice was milky even without the condensed milk too

Matcha Bingsu It has been a while since I had a matcha bingsu ($15.90) and decide to try. I feel that the ingredients such as red bean and matcha powder became lesser. I guess it can't be help that they have to cut cost without increasing the price. Also, I liked that it charge nett price

Change in serving size, still taste good! We love frequenting omaspoon for dessert at 313 Somerset but I’m not sure what happened in the last few months… price has risen slightly but the size has shrunk significantly as you can see from the funny shape (used to be mountain shaped) - injeolmi flavour still tastes wonderful though!
