Pumpkin Walnut ($2). A tad expensive for a bun but the pumpkin, cream cheese (surprise! Didn't expect the bun to have cream cheese) and the walnuts made this bun SO good. Too bad I only pass by Barcook once a week. #breadface
I guess it's called The Mess cause it does look messy after mixing it all up. Though this was a rather simple dish which can be made at home (except sous vide egg), I still felt that this was a nice comfort-food sort of dish, especially paired with their excellent coffee.
Well, still like to see it as starting 2017 on a 'healthier' note. Kale, broccoli and grapefruit juice. Chanced upon this smoothie place while shopping around. They have quite a fun concept, where all the ingredients which you can pick from, are printed on individual blocks, and you pick the blocks and place them in a mold and pass them to the cashier. Stated on every ingredient is also the nutritional information (type of vitamins, calories). You will also receive a card with all the nutritional info of the juice mix you picked, and also the health 'score'. Pretty cool!
Rosti with smoked salmon and cheesy chicken sausage ($23++). Good for large eaters because the rosti was huge (thicker than marche's), sausage was big π and the portion of smoked salmon was generous.
The goat's cheese caught my eye, though I wouldn't usually eat leek and scallions. The leek and scallions have lost some of their taste to the generous amounts of olive oil (phew), but still provided good texture to the pizza and balancing out the heavier-tasting goat's cheese. The pizza crust itself was amazing - very thin where the ingredients were placed over, and toasty and SUPER crispy on the sides. I think I can actually finish the entire pizza on my own as the pizza was really thin and light, and not too big as well, about 9". I would totally come back to try all their other pizzas!
Almost not in the mood to go for lunch cause was feeling so tired and down, but glad I did. The pancake was probably one of the best I had because it was thick and full of fillings.
May come back, but just because their coffee was to my liking. This was at their new outlet at Raffles City. They were still having their soft opening when we were there yesterday. Anyway, how do I create a new location tag on IG?
Finally back in Salted Caramel after not coming for more than a year already. Their variety of flavours is mind blowing! Reminds me of Mures Bistro in Hobart so much. Blueberry Yogurt, Lychee and Espresso Caramel Biscuit.
The waffles were the softer kind (think pandan waffles from your neighbourhood bakery) but still fragrant and buttery tasting. Salted egg sauce was really good; look at how generous they were. But I felt it was a yolk overdose cause there were already 2 poached eggs in the dish. Nevetheless, a yummy and sinful treat.
Second time here π, first time was when we were kinda just casually seeing each other. This time, we were here as a couple having a staycay over the marathon weekend β€. We had a 1-for-1 buffet lunch for staying a night at Mandarin Orchard. The spread here was quite decent. They had a turkey carving station which I suppose was a Christmas special. I always loved their baked lobster tails, fresh sashimi, Indian food spread and the small tasting plates which were always changing depending on season. Worth the try if there is a promotion going on.
This is part of their Christmas menu. I felt that this dish was rather unique and creative. The toastada was a large piece of fried crispy (very crispy) fritter which reminded me of a thick version the Indian pappadum π, or a flat hard taco shell. This dish came with 2 thick slices of turkey and a slice of turkey ham. The ham was a bit salty but the turkey was good. The mashed potato was also quite unique, containing chunks of sweet apple and sweet cranberry sauce drizzled over it. Feels just like Christmas eating this! All you need is a mug of hot chocolate. This cafe is quite under the radar, but their menu is different from the typical cafe's eggs benny etc, hence quite worth the try.
The chicken wings themselves were quite well done, fried till they were crispy outside yet meat still tender. But while I feel that the marmite taste was sufficient, bf felt that the flavour was not strong enough and did not reach the flesh inside.
