Iced Mocha For The Hot Afternoon Iced mocha because the weather was just too hot for something warm. Coffee was not too bad. Milky with a bitter after taste

Salad/Cake/Beverages We shared among ourselves for this one. The salad (consisting of a variety of ingredients which you can choose from and sauce as well) was quite worth it as they gave quite a huge portion. The japanese sauce is definitely worth a try as it was not too sour/sweet (4/5) The earl grey lavender cake was really good, with pretty icing designs on top. The lavender and earl grey taste matched really well and made the cake as a whole. (5/5) The drinks such as elderflower presse is worth a try, but you could get it anywhere in singapore. (3/5)

Ispahan Macaron By honeyydrizzle for the bake sale. Gorgeous and uncloying. Rose cream, lychee, raspberries sandwiched between 2 macaron shells - all the good things in a dessert. Missing this now.

Pasta Set Lunch ($12.90+) The set lunch here is decent for its price as long as you don't expect anything fancy. It includes a soup of the day (pumpkin was the flavour we got), a drink (hot green tea, home made honey lemon tea or Coke), a dessert (it was chocolate fudge brownie) and the main course (today's options were either a chicken melt sandwich with fries, or a vege pasta cooked in either olive oil or tomato sauce). Service was good and the ambience was quite nice too, being slightly formal, cosy and comfortable.

For a Quaint Italian Meal Oliva Italian aims to provide an Italian vineyard experience that transports the diner to the outskirts of Rome. The menu features simple authentic Italian recipes that focus on the freshest ingredients. For a quiet, romantic dinner in the quaint Arab Quarter, Olivia is a great choice. Start with an antipasti, and perhaps share one of their signature pastas and their melt-in-your-mouth lamb shank. Live The Good Life® with your Standard Chartered Card: 50% off pizzas with minimum spend of $40. Valid till 31 December 2014.

Just an English Breakfast Tea....but we loved the earthen-ware style cup and saucer use to serve it. And the gentle brick walls make for such nice backdrop.... Read more about this cafe combining Street art and good coffee on my site (click on active link in my bio)

Smoked Salmon Bagel for Brunch This was a cute, little cafe in Haji Lane. My bagel was great, and I loved the side of chips that came with it. 😊 My soy cappuccino was also great: not any more bitter than any other place I've tried in SG (I prefer milder coffees, but Singaporeans seem to prefer more bitter brews); nonetheless, it was well made, which I don't say too often! Service was friendly and prompt; positive experience all around.

What a pity that we came slightly late as they have sold out all of their desserts except the Mochi Donut ($12). Fortunately, this happens to be one of our favourites with the crispy exterior, chewy texture of the mochi donut with the earl grey ice cream. A perfect pairing of hot and cold. •••••••••••••••••••• 📍Brotherbird Coffeehouse 32 Bali Lane, Singapore 189868

Review: Stateland Cafe (Part 3/3) Finally knew why the Earl Grey Bursts with Softserve [$15] is highly recommended. The mochi balls are soooooo good. It’s a good pairing between the hot mochi balls and cold softserve. Have chosen cookie butter over taro softserve as recommended by the staff and it doesn’t disappoint! It’s a pity this is the last time I can enjoy this dessert since the cafe is closing down :/

Review: Stateland Cafe (Part 2/3) Wanted to try the Herbal Duck Confit Risotto but was told that the cafe is not serving this dish today BUT somehow saw another diner eating it so uhh.. Anyway, decided to try the Hainanese Chicken Rice Risotto [$19] instead since it is one of the recommended dishes and it is okay lo. A unique fusion but would appreciate if there is more rice 😅

Delicious Juicy Burgers I ordered the hogzilla, great choice ! The pulled pork was tender and succulent ! My gf ordered the basic instinct, it was classic like how an American beef burger should be ! Overall, the ambience was a really great one!

Signature Marinated Bacon I think if we ordered this burger with beef, it will be good but again my friends don't take beef so we had to choose chicken. Again its too salty for us. Gosh!. What a letdown..

Mac & Cheese Burger My friends ordered this mac & cheese burger as we really love mac & cheese but on a chicken patty (friends don't take beef). OMG! It was way too salty!! The patty was all right.. am not really a fan of chicken patty when it comes to burger..give me beef anytime! The bun was good though cruchy outside and soft inside. Fries were crisp even after a while.

Vintage High Tea Buffet Instead of spending over $50/pax for a high tea set, how about a $30++/pax high tea buffet? Although it may not be as delicious as before, the price stays the same over the years. Sad to know that they will be closing down at the end of the year. Do visit them before they close down for good:(

Truffle N The Kong Bak House @ Dempsey... nice place to hangout n take wefies... with the vintage decos... of course the foods are also nice and serve simple and strong fragrant truffle fries. The Kong Bak Bau is great too with the thick pork slices and the just nice serving white bau! Must go for weekend brunches or Lunners!

Spaghetti Aglio Olio The portion is great (at least for me), very garlicky, and while the menu claimed to be Aglio olio, personally I felt that it's more "vongole" style with the southern New Zealand clams. It's more wet, from the clams and definitely lack the olive oil, garlic combo. Not complaining, but definitely misleading. Presentation is the greatest, most likely it was a slow night, and the Chef is not feeling it that night.

A Wacky Creation That Actually Works Pork.Bone.Tea - chargrilled pork ribs, crazily heady tea-smoked bone marrow, garlic & pepper jus, and roasted garlic. It sounds crazy but it's true. This is the bak kut teh that all fans have dreamed about.

Not Just A CNY Snack The pièce de résistance - Bak Kwa Mac & Cheese. It's essentially penne baked with gruyere & cheddar, truffle oil and pork belly bak kwa. Smoky and full of cheesy goodness, this is irrésistible.

Sticky Date Pancakes And Banoffee Crepes I was really looking forward to dessert and Bécasse didn't disappoint - rich, sticky butterscotch/toffee sauce, galore this was. Our only gripe? The slightly rubbery crepes.

Duck Confit (Part of the brunch menu) Duck confit, crispy and juicy, on top of a velvety smooth pomme purée (aka mash potatoes). The delightful crisp skin, crackles at every bite, while the duck meat isn't dried out.

Slow Cooked Egg (Part of the brunch menu) Let's talk about their eggs. Slowed cooked eggs, with aerated truffle, pancetta and toasted brioche toast. This warm, mousse-like mush is not exactly my family's favourite. A mimic of Singapore's soft boiled egg, mildly savoury from the pancetta and heighten by the truffle. But dipping those toast (wished I had more), makes the dish pleasant and delicious to eat. The toast soaked up the brioche toast, giving the soggy-crunchy texture.

Sticky Toffee Pudding (Part of the Brunch menu) Sticky toffee pudding, with bourbon vanilla ice cream. Dark, balanced and incredible. The bourbon ice cream, slightly bitter and rich, paired well with the sweet toffee pudding.
