Their signature noodle consists of two bite-sized abalone, scallop, fried fishball, pork slices, minced pork, half tamago egg and pork lard. Char Siew + Sio Bak Rice @$5.50 Foong Kee was returned, and this time at Commonwealth Crescent Market and Food Centre. Having eaten at their Keong Saik Outlet before its closure back in 2021. Already expect good food here, and was not disappointed. My other half having this for the first time agreed that the Sio Bak was very good. Sio Bak excellent. Crispy skin, tender meat. Char siew with its charred edges was very good too. Meat had a good meat and fat ratio. Come earlier if u want roasted duck. By the time i came at 12.30pm, no more roasted duck liao

Charsiew Roast Pork Rice Foong kee is back!! Beautifully roasted meats as usual. The queue speaks volumes. The charsiew is nicely caramelised, tender yet not too fatty. Roast pork has a crisp skin, meat is surprisingly juicy given that it’s quite lean, and isn’t too salty. Rice is average, but paired with a savoury sweet sauce, and refreshing sliced cucumbers. Come before 12.30, because you’ll have to queue for a bit and they sold out by the time we left at about 1.30pm on a Sat.

Charsiew Wanton Mee ($3.50) Their wanton mee is v nice! It’s thin & very springy, coated in a light sauce (I think it might be sesame oil + their charsiew sauce?). V similar to feifei roasted noodles @ yuhua (my fav!). But I did feel like there was a slight alkaline taste. Wantons had quite a decent amount of meat filling, liked that they used water chestnuts so there was the cronch element. The charsiew is really good - it’s tender and juicy, there’s a nice mix of fatty + lean parts, and the ends have a nice slight char so those parts are crisp. It is feels “cleaner” and not as sinful compared to other charsiews out there, but still v delicious so I liked it a lot! They’re closing on 15 June because the owner wants to take a rest! We actually queued almost 3 hours for this on sat. It’s a v nice satisfying meal, glad we tried it before it closed, since it’s been on my wishlist since 2 years ago hahaha

Delectable Dimsum Their custard bun (流沙包) was to die for, and the congee really hits the spot in rainy weather. Service could be a bit better, but the food is really value for money and I’d definitely make a return trip.

My Favourite Sweet & Sour Pork I am not huge on the popular Chinese classic dish of “Sweet & Sour Pork” but @lousangsg (previously known as #makhongkee) does one that I can’t get enough of. The pieces of pork are fried till very, and I mean VERY, crunchy. And the sauce is more sweet than sour but by golly, it just works. I know taste is subjective but to me, this is the best version of the dish I’ve had in recent years.

Carbonara pasta Vegetarian carbonara pasta. Its written mushrooms would be given instead of the bacon, but there was so much carrots instead and so little mushrooms. Plus the sauce wasn’t creamy enough for me .

Bacon Chestnut “Latte” I really adore their 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐧𝐮𝐭 “𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞” as it’s such a cute and creative concept! It’s a warm and hearty bacon chestnut soup served in a latte cup instead of the usual soup bowl. Upon taking a mouthful of the warm soup, smooth and savory bacon flavor fills my mouth, followed by the creamy and robust chestnut flavor. Super shiok to dip the crisp toast into the warm and creamy soup!

Herbal Chicken The chicken was a tad bit dry and tasteless for me. The best part of this dish is surprisingly the kale instead.

Spicy Chirashi Bowl Nibbler knows she should have tried out the beef bowl at Waa Cow! but their chirashi bowl is very fresh and worth every bit of her cholesterol. They don’t skimp on the sashimi/seafood and they have piled up so much collagen goodness in this bowl. A definite mood lifter for anyone.

Truffle Wagyu Sukiyaki Don [$19.90] Truffle beef sukiyaki don. Love the aroma from the truffle and the slightly sweetened (from the sukiyaki tare) thinly sliced wagyu beef. Break the yolk and every bite was heavenly. Scallions add a beautiful finish! Available in 3 flavours - original ($16.90), spicy mentaiko ($18.90) and truffle.
