Mentaiko Gyudon ($10.80) You can鈥檛 go wrong with mentaiko! A pretty simple gyudon but very tasty and satisfying for its price point with the Beyond 1-for-1 deal. Perfect for small to average eaters with its average serving size.
Mentaiko was creamy and salty, going well with the beef and onions which were sweet and savoury. Most importantly, for me personally, the beef was moist - its juices made the rice flavourful, and not too plain or dry. I tend to find many rice bowls quite dry, and usually have issues finishing the rice, but it wasn鈥檛 a problem for this one (though to be fair the rice wasn鈥檛 much). I liked the combination of textures - creamy mentaiko, chewy beef and crunchy tenkasu, generously lying atop a scoop of fragrant Japanese rice.
Overall a very satisfying meal - made even more affordable with the Beyond 1-for-1 deal. There鈥檙e actually waaaaaaaay (not an over-exaggeration really) more choices at the in-store menu than the ones on the Beyond menu, so do go down to the store to take a look at the options.
We visited on a Saturday afternoon and easily got seats for the three of us - the top floor of the mall didn鈥檛 seem very populated at all when we went. The staff were friendly and helpful. Would come again with the deal. :)
