Salmon Ochazuke has a light broth, what my friend terms japanese porridge. It’s a little bit of an acquired taste and could be more for those with a light palette. I love the Tamago Sando which is a good mix of sweet and savoury with the pear sauce. The tamago is fluffy and makes a hearty sandwich despite it being just eggs. Managed to redeem one for one on Burpple beyond for the two mains. Not applicable for the pancakes though!
I’m hoping that flagwhite is able to stay in this space which is perpetually changing ownership.
Smoothie came with oat milk on default. I had the blueberry one at 8 bucks and oat milk was distinct, good for those who prefer a less milky taste. The hazelnut cake was good also and I’ve heard many reviews that they brew a mean cup of coffee.
Packed on a Sunday afternoon, I would return to try the other tarts/cakes and the sides smell pretty good as well.
Saw lots of interesting flavors and decided to go with earl grey tie guan yin and lychee rose. Both were good and smooth, not super milky kind. Waffle was also well done with a good chewy texture. It’s not difficult to understand why Geometry is popular as a ‘heartland’ ice cream shop! I will wanna return to try the other flavors.
This is a really good place to do work/ chill on a weekday. It is quiet and there’s a good variety of food of both western and Asian food provided.
Not premium quality but acceptable and of a reasonable portion. My fish and chips came with a light salad and tartar sauce. Gotta pay GST and service charge here, but another plus point is free WiFi (use the free capitaland network).
Ah Hua Kelong at Riang seems to have a different menu from the one at Haji Lane. We had the wings, salmon with nonya spices and salted egg calamari rice bowl for lunch. There was nothing to shout about for the food - nonya spices (spices taste not super obvious) and salted egg calamari felt that the dough was a little too much. An okay rice bowl but I liked that they used the thin asparagus which added nice texture.
However, service could really be more attentive. Asked for sharing plates, asked for water and the waiter could conveniently forget right after we asked about it (there was only one other customer in the restaurant) and we had to ask again. When we wanted to redeem the Burpple beyond deal, waiter seemed very uncertain and sulky about it as well. I will come go to the Haji Lane branch which seems much more promising with a more interesting menu.
My fav fav dessert here. The apple tart is a great great pastry that’s not flaky and goes really well with hazelnut chocolate ice cream. Topped this up at 4 bucks cause I didn’t want any desserts on the set lunch menu. What a sweet ending to the meal :)
Best place in bugis for desserts. Mochi with packed with earl grey filling and refreshing soft serve.
Rich soup but I would prefer more grouper rather than the specialty meatball. The meatball was too big and had a too ‘porky’ taste for my liking. The soup (supposedly with chicken and scallop stock) was nice but erm might possibly have msg, did feel a little thirsty after the meal. But overall I guess, it’s nice to find another place for a soupy light Asian dinner in town.
This plate of cauliflower salad was found on almost every table today. Really loved the texture of everything put together, the cauliflower, the kale the sauces and it was a very appetizing starter!
Had the lobster roll too but nothing much to shout about in terms of price, taste nor portion. The chips were also extremely salty.
Having said that, I may still return to como for bunch menu (which many seem to rave about) and it is no doubt a pretty place and service was also good.
Other than the legendary cheesecake which was oozing with cheese, I really liked this pulpo dish with crispy pork belly on potato foam (which basically feels like very very smooth mash) with caramalised onions. Pulpo was well cooked and pork belly was not the super fatty type. Usually something like this could border on being salty but this really wasn’t, especially with everything mixed together.
The restaurant was very thoughtful and portioned it to two portions for my friend and I.
Egg roll here is consistently great. Thick, fluffy, generous amount of cheese topped with honey mustard. Burpple beyond is available here but exclusions apply. Other favorites are the anchovy rice and the pancake!
Generally a good lobster roll with warm brioche bun that was quite big and a reasonable portion of lobster. I enjoyed dipping the roll in the buttery sauce that came along in the set. There was a sufficient amount of salad and fries given too.
But honestly I really wouldn’t wanna queue 1.5 hours for this again. There are other places with good lobster rolls of similar standard. Jewel Changi is also way too crowded for my liking so I’ll probably only return when the hype goes away perhaps half a year later.
