Seaside Seafood Restaurant This restaurant, located within the SAF Yacht Club, offers live seafood with a good view of the Johor Straits. You can actually see Johor Bahru from the restaurant. Prices are quite reasonable and they have some good set menus as well. We ordered Kam Heong Crab $60 for 2 crabs, Black Bean Fish Head, Fried Kailan and Oyster Omelette. Total damage including drinks (non alcoholic) was $131.
The Kam Heong Crab was not Kam Heong style. It was cooked with curry powder and had curry leaves thrown in. The oyster omelette was very salty in some parts. The kailan was normal but the star of the show was the Black Bean Fish Head. The saltiness and the wok heat from frying the aish head came through just nice.
Service wise, it was almost non existent as they had only two service staff although one could argue that with ordering done online what would you need the extra staff for? Wrong because you always have questions to ask about the menu.
And for the view, you have to be seated outside. But that comes with another problem - house flies! We spent most of the time waving away the tenacious flies determined to share our food.
Not coming back. Not even for the view which I can also enjoy next door at the izakaya.
