Shiromaru Tamago Ramen ($17.80++) The past two gloomy days got me thinking of ramen. Had this bowl after a long hot yoga session. Quite weird to crave for something hot after a workout, but it works 🤷🏻‍♀️ This Shiromaru Tamago ($17.80++) is my usual Ippudo order - quite plain with the noodles, chasu, egg, black fungus and spring onion - but still satisfying. Ippudo always delivers flavourful broth (haven’t failed me yet). It may seem a bit watery on the photo but it’s still as rich as how I’ve liked it. Chasu is tender, though could be a bit more generous. Noodles are hard (as requested)

Chicken chilaquiles ($21) 🌯 4/5 Took a chance ordering something I've never encountered before and was rewarded. Chilaquiles are a breakfast dish comprising corn tortillas cut into quarters and fried in a salsa/broth, then topped with cheese and eggs. I thought the corn chips would be soggy after being doused in the spicy sauce but they still retained a mouth-watering amount of charred flavour. The proportion was also quite reasonable for the price — I'm definitely getting this unique dish again if I'm back.

Elotes ($9) 🌽3/5 This was another rare dish you don't really see in other mexican places in Singapore — elotes are a mexican street food involving roasted sweet corn covered in salty cheese, fragrant herbs and creamy sauces. I was really excited to try these because they sound so good! Alas, the elotes I got were actually flavoured very well but the serving size was so tiny I really don't think it's worth it for $9.

Tacos De Pescado Fish Tacos were the BOMB! REALLY SUPERB YUMMY YUMMY

Truffle Shuffle Shrooms ($8.90) Pasta and sauce were packed separately but I couldn’t resist mixing it together and taking a bite first before the photo. The hint of truffle aroma had me salivating on the way home. Sauce is creamy and tasty, and pasta was al dente. The pasta is freshly made and quite heavy. Might get a little jelak towards the end. For the price, it’s decent value for a hearty, indulgent meal!

DIY pasta ($10.90) Since I discovered Tangled, it’s become my go-to pasta place even though I neither live nor work near it. I mean, handmade pasta for $10? Where else can you find that? This is egg papardelle ricce with salmon cranberries, and tomato sauce. I really liked the large amount of salmon flakes and the chewy pasta. The only downside is that there is no dine-in option, but I guess that helps to keep the price low.

Pasta ($9.90) i live for pastas these days they serve freshly made pastas!!!! built my own pasta - opted for pappardelle ricce with a tomato base and added prawns to it. texture of the pasta was slightly thicker and was cooked al dante so there definitely a firmer chewy bite to it. 6 prawns for $4

Chef salad Very refreshing simple salad - confirm no food coma!

Lamb mushroom spaghetti Very tasty dish but there was more mushrooms than lamb bites.

Pepperoni pizza Really thin crispy crust and delicious pepperoni cheese! Yummmssss!

Putian Cabbage Fried Rice To those who’ve never tried it before, I’d describe cabbage fried rice as tasting somewhat like claypot rice. I grew up with this dish, so I’m happy to find a very similar (and affordable) version available at Xing Hua Lou.

Thick flavourful soup The soup was very nourishing and sweet from the clams. Although it came in a small cauldron, it felt like a bottomless pit as we couldn't stop scooping up an extremely generous amount of ingredients - around 16 lala clams 😱, mushrooms, small scallop, dried shrimps, and chinese cabbage 😂

Conveniently located in a food court, this eatery is under the Xing Hua Lou brand which serves dishes that are similar to what you will get in Putien restaurants. It's our second time here and this time, I tried the vermicelli! The vermicelli is indeed one-of-kind with its silky, smooth and fine texture. It came with a generous assortment of ingredients such as prawns and clams! I also added the chilli for an enhanced flavour profile ☺️ Contrary to popular beliefs, I actually prefer the vermicelli to their lor mee as I felt that the lor mee is too thick for my liking 🤔 The best part is that it's 2 main dishes for $6 now. Basically, it ticked all the boxes of a good curry! ✔ Spice level was good 🔥 with a substantial spicy punch without being overwhelming. Extremely thick, rich & creamy, it exudes an alluring fragrance from the coconut milk that keeps u going for more! 🤤 LEMAKKKK! . Fu Xiang is generous with their portion - be treated to chunky pieces of succulent chicken thigh & drumstick amidst soft potatoes! 😋😋😋 . It was easy wiping clean the entire plate of white rice which went so well when drizzled with the aromatic curry! 🤩 Their value meal ($7) comes with rice, omelette & vege! I say this is super value for money!!! ✌🏻

Baja fish tacos and more! The food here is so so good! All the tapas and tacos were great. The vibes here was also super nice, feels like you’re in a different country.

Sweet potato fries w spicy mayo THIS IS THE BOMBS. The sauce omg so so good. 10/10 recommend, you won’t regret.
