I can't believe this restaurant is so big, on the main road, and I've never noticed it before! I've never had Bangladeshi food before either so this was interesting. It is pretty much chap fan style, you scoop what/how much meats and veges you want and they'll charge you for whatever you have on your plate.
We couldn't decide, as usual, so we tried a little bit of everything: beef and chicken (top plate, RM10), pumpkin, green beans and okra (middle plate, RM6), mutton and duck (bottom plate, RM10), and on the right is what the guy said is called 'sambal'. The 'sambal' (RM2 each) is basically fish paste + lots of chili + lots of spices, it was really goodddd although super spicy. It's not like a fishball where it's springy, it very soft and crumbly, nothing like I've had before.
The meats were pretty good, my favorite would be the chicken even though I usually love mutton curry. All the curries are more spicy than regular Malaysian curries and I really liked it! The mutton had a very buttery taste to it. We also chose the butter rice (RM 4) instead of regular white rice, it's almost like nasi briyani.
We also had gulab jamun (a sweet treat that's not in the picture, RM3 each). I've always loved it very much but if it's your first time trying it you might not like it very much, it may be a little too sweet. Best way to describe it is a small fried donut soaked in syrup, but the ingredients are definitely different from your typical donut.

The entire meal this time was RM37, and the amount of food we had was probably enough to feed 3-4 people. Pretty good deal I would say!

Overall I really liked this place! Good food, excellent service, very spacious, very very clean, and very brightly lit up. Definitely will come back again!

So we've heard many people talk about the pasta here and we took forever to try this place even though we live nearby. So we finally got to have lunch here (after several attempts - "no more lunch menu now, only desserts" and coming on their rest day aka Tuesday). Saw the menu and frankly got really excited because all the pasta dishes sounded so elaborate and yummy I wanted to try everything. There was probably 50 pasta dishes in that menu I kid you not. But anyway, the lunch special is that you get a bottle of "fruit juice" aka cordial, with every dish you order.
The pastas arrived pretty quickly, and the risotto took just a while more, hence the missing risotto in the picture. They looked so gorgeous I got even more excited. But the taste is what it's all about right? I can't remember the exact names of the dishes so description will have to do, sorry!
So the squid ink pasta was okay, quite some mussels in there; the carbonara thing was not bad, except for the prosciutto aka the star of the dish, it tasted kinda strange, almost like ham that's gone bad? The baked rigatoni thing looked so promising but really punched me in the face: the sauce was sooooo overly sweet and that alone ruined the entire dish. It was also like a pizza wannabe that went so wrong. My risotto dish had bacon/pancetta I think, it looked pretty good but then again, the seasoning.. -.- it was so dang salty I couldn't finish it. Maybe too much Parmesan? Or maybe just too much salt.. Lastly we ordered their signature dessert, it was okay, a little too pricy if you ask me.

Overall I would say it was a pretty bad experience. Maybe because I'm a super picky pasta eater. The seasonings and flavors were so off I honestly think I could do much better.. The cafe was pretty packed for lunch though, but I don't think my family will be going back there anytime soon..

Daebak Dakgalbi serves mostly food for sharing. We decided to go for one of their daebak specials instead of their dakgalbi. We had the Dak Banmari (half chicken soup with Korean Chopped noodles), recommended for 1-2 person for RM45 (before tax) but it was quite a decent portion for 3 regular-appetite people. If half a chicken isn't enough, they also have the full chicken for RM88.
They bring the pot of partially cooked, uncut chicken to the table's stove, then cut it into smaller pieces for you at the table.
The soup base is very clear, probably just hot water when they bring it to the table, but the essence from the chicken and the sweetness of the mushrooms, onions, chives and leek just makes the soup so pure. The plate of noodles that come with the pot is TO DIE FOR. It looked like freshly made noodles, and you cook it whenever you feel like it. The texture of it is so great. It's almost like ban mee noodles but more QQ. It's slightly thick and slightly chewy but all in a good way, really shines through the clear broth! If you love the noodles as much as I did, you can add another portion for RM6.
Never had anything like this before and I'm definitely coming back again for this dish, super hearty comfort food!

*important note: their kimchi was not bad at all, quite spicy πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ

Ah Cheng laksa apparently serves Alor Setar style laksa. I've never had authentic Kedahan laksa but I can say that the curry laksa I had here did not taste like regular kl laksa. It had a very distinct and rich unusual flavor, according to my mum it was serai? The dish overall was pretty good, I would say. It had some cockles, chicken pieces and tao pok, a bowl on its own costs RM8.90 and set lunch which includes a drink is RM11.90. We got the longan drink, which wasn't too sweet nor too diluted, and had quite a number of whole longans. Seems a little pricey to me, RM8.90 for a bowl of noodles and RM3 add on for a drink, but everything's expensive nowadays anyway right?

I really enjoyed this dish! We ordered the Nasi Kukus Ayam Goreng Berempah (RM15.05 after tax) with nasi kukus pandan (choice of nasi kukus putih/ pandan/ bunga telang/ beras perang). Apparently the pandan one is a customer favorite and it was really quite good! The steamed rice was very fragrant, not too hard, at the same time not mush. They drizzle 3 types of curry on the side of the rice, but you could request for the curries to be on a separate saucer. The fried chicken was absolutely delicious! Though unbattered, the skin was really crispy; the flesh was so juicy and succulent and super tasty, very well marinated! The huge piece of drumstick was still smoking when we cut into it, even at the bones. Everything about this dish was great and I would definitely go for it again!

A regular crispy popiah here (RM3.80) comes with egg floss, some crispy fried flour bits, sengkuang and some sauce. We got the chicken ham and cheese crispy popiah for RM5.70 after tax. I don't think it's worth adding the chicken ham and cheese honestly. There's so little that you don't even notice the additional flavor and even if you could really taste it, I don't think it would go well with the rest of the ingredients. I've had better popiahs but if you have a sudden craving, just get the regular ones

I really loved this! (Although it's a little pricey, RM6.90 after tax). The puff itself is really light and crispy, and the cold chocolate cream filling is not too decadent, it's light, not too sweet, kind of like a iced chocolate drink. It's sprinkled with some icing sugar and cocoa powder, and the puff is relatively big so when you try to take a bite of it, don't inhale too deep or you'll cough your lungs out like I did πŸ˜‚

Pak Loh Chiu Chow is a high-end Chinese restaurant serving Teochew food. We tried the Flat Rice Noodle Soup with Tiger Prawns and Minced Pork (RM38 tax inclusive). It has a very unique taste, I've never tasted soup like theirs before. It's milky, very savory, this may sound weird but it has a slight kuih kapit taste 😳 The cilantro in there really cuts the richness of the soup. You'll find some mushrooms, carrots, minced pork, and luffa (δΈη“œ). The prawn tasted really fresh! The texture was really crisp, not mushy like defrosted prawns would. I especially love how incredibly smooth and silky the flat noodles are. I really would go back just for the noodles πŸ€” Because of the richness of the soup, I don't think I would be able to finish the entire bowl myself, so definitely bring a friend with you to try some of their dishes!

This pizza is definitely much more artisan than Domino's or Papa John's. Their pizzas are generally 12" and you get to choose between a rustic or traditional crust. We chose the Napoli Bianco with Rustic Base (RM51.20 after tax). This pizza had a generous amount of toppings including beef meatballs, beef pepperoni, mozzarella cheese, diced chicken and an Alfredo base. I've never had an Alfredo based pizza before and I thought it was pretty interesting. Honestly I wish there was a tad bit more sauce and cheese on it; it was rather dry and lack of seasoning. But at least it wasn't soaking in a pile of sauce! Maybe it was the small amount of sauce but I thought the Alfredo base was not as overpowering as a typical marinara base would be. The rustic base was perfect since I prefer my pizzas with a thinner crust, slightly crispy and not too filling. I absolutely loved how the toppings came in bigger chunks! You can actually taste the flavors of the individual toppings and the meatballs were pretty damn good. I usually hate arugula on salads but it really works with the pizza; it adds a certain earthiness to the pizza and the bitterness I hate is almost unnoticeable.
I wouldn't mind having pizza here again! Plus they serve free bread with *herb infused* olive oil and vinegar 😍

The Chrysanthemum Pu Erh Tea was RM18 including tax. The pot of tea was pretty pricey to me but a tiny bit smoother than the teas you get at regular restaurants. Not too bitter, no artificial sweetness, pretty pleasant to drink

Luk Yu Tea House is pretty much a fancier more atas dimsum place, a dimsum place inside Starhill Gallery.
We tried the Wok Fried Radish Cake with Egg and Bean Sprouts for RM14 (tax inclusive) and a pot of Chrysanthemum Pu Erh Tea for RM18 (tax inclusive).I'm just gonna be blunt and say that it wasn't worth the money. You could definitely get better ones elsewhere.
When the radish cake arrived, it wasn't steaming hot like a good dish should be. Even the middle of the pile wasn't hot and that was an instant put off. I guess everything else was fine, the texture and the seasonings were fine, the bean sprout could use a couple more minutes. I wouldn't come here again for their radish cakes.
Overall I wouldn't come back here again, I could get similar food at a much cheaper price from so many other places. So disappointed ): Well at least the ceramic wares were pretty 😐

It was really good.
On the board, the menu tells you that it's made of Oreo, espresso, chocolate ice cream, (and milk?). The chocolate doesn't really shine through, and it shouldn't since it's an 'espresso shake', it just gives the drink a certain richness I guess? You can really taste the espresso which makes me so happy. The Oreo crumbs add a nice dimension to it, since they weren't blitzed into the finest crumbs, and most of them were sprinkled on the top so they stay crunchy πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ I really loved the richness and thickness of this shake, I was genuinely surprised at how thick it was in my first sip, very unusual drink! I'm the person that's Starbucks all the way but this drink is making me think twice πŸ€”
[RM16 tax inclusive]
