Had a good first impression of the restaurant, when we were served chrysanthemum tea and the appetizer of refreshing achar. Sadly, it all went downhill from there.
The server accidentally spilled fish soup on a large area of my shoes but just walked away pretending nothing happened, not even apologising or offering tissues for me to clean up. Then, we found a curly hair in our pork lard. Looking from the reviews, this isn't the first time hair was found in their food. Suffice to say we didn't touch the lard after that.
The fish soup broth was milky and flavourful, but the fish slices were close to tasteless. You can get better, cheaper fish soup at the food centre just a 5 min walk away. And that is what I will do next time.
Price: S$11.40 per pax and lots of disappointment
Part of the lunch promo. It tasted average, though a few parts of the crust were burnt and tasted bitter. #tobysthedessertasylum #burpple
I don't usually eat beef but I loved this burger! Fillings consisted of beef patty+ bacon strips+ caramelised onions+ greens. Cheese lava (cheddar I think) flowed out like a river when we cut through the patty 😍 The bacon strips remained crispy throughout, though I could taste the stale oil. Fries were well seasoned, though a tad too salty on its own.

Love the generous ingredients given in these bingsoo which made it worth the price ($18.90 each)!
The black sesame and soybean powder used in the Black Sesame Bingsoo made it especially fragrant. Eating these bowls of bingsoo never gets monotonous, as it's accompanied by crunchy sliced almonds and chewy injeolmi.
Those who want to eat more healthily can skip the milk sauce as the red bean paste provides sufficient sweetness!
Have heard many praises about the cakes from Pantler and finally got to try them!
My favourite, the Dark Chocolate Delice ($7.80), was dense and rich with a sweet crunchy biscuit base. <3 The Strawberry Shortcake ($8.50) was fluffy and soft but I wish it had a stronger strawberry flavour!
Oh, and the Hot Chocolate ($6.50) tasted like really really bland milo... At this price point, it was an absolute disappointment :/
Tldr: skip the drinks, just go for the cakes.
Potong-shaped ice lolly in Salted Milk flavour($2). This flavour actually tastes like white rabbit milk candy~
Sipping on Thai Green Milk Tea ($2) and eating these addictive Coconut Crispy Pancakes (8 for $4) makes for a perfect Friday afternoon snack. Imagine eating candy floss in the form of crispy chips, because that's what those pancakes remind me of 😋
A different rendition of one of our pasar malam favourites, the freshly-made Tapioca Cakes (6 for $4) is a chewy round cake covered by a crisp thin skin. I could taste the tapioca bits inside and it's one of the less sweet Thai snacks around. Something you could munch on while queuing for your Pad Thai/papaya salad :P
The Phad Thai ($5) had a snaking long queue, but that's because it's cooked on the spot! Steaming hot and full of wok hei goodness 👍👍👍 The chilli flakes pack a tongue-numbing fiery punch!
Tip: Remember to take a piece of lime (self-service) if you like more tanginess in your noodles :)
Mixed feelings about this Baked Pork Chop in Tomato with Spaghetti ($9.50). The yay: Pork chops were relatively tender and flavourful. The meh: The spaghetti was overcooked to the point of being soft. While they were generous with the sauce, it tasted more sweet than I would have liked with no hint of tomato at all (despite tomato peels being visible). Perhaps better to just go for the egg tarts and buns instead.
What a treat! The Honolulu Egg Tart ($1.80) had a buttery fragrant crust that I could easily cut through with a knife without being too crumbly. Combined with the wobbly egg custard that had a pudding-like consistency and a light eggy taste, this was a power combination that I devoured within seconds. The Red Bean Pineapple Bun($1.90) tasted like an anpan but with a super crispy crust, perhaps because the sugar crust was thicker compared to those sold elsewhere.
The Balanced Salad ($5.50) consists of a base of lettuce, 1 meat (chicken), 5 toppings (I chose asparagus, kidney beans, baby tomatoes, orange slices and sunflower seeds) and Seville orange dressing. It turned out to be a surprisingly large and filling bowl. Was disappointed that chicken was the only meat option left, guess I need to go earlier for the more popular meats. The dressing was more sweet than tangy and would appeal to people who doesn't like tangy dressings.
