If you're bored of the usual brunch items that most cafes serve, then you should totally try the food at The Laneway Market. Joining several new cafes along the Tanjong Katong Road stretch, The Laneway Market offers unusual options such as Nacho Chicken and French Toast layered with Bacon and Baked Beans. For mains, try their Pulled Pork Burger and Gambas (soba topped with roasted sesame infused minced prawn). We hear they have a second storey currently in the works!
Located opposite Eunos MRT Station, this new cafe offers a cosy and comfortable space for your coffee needs. The furniture, cake display and checkered tiles evoke memories of old-fashioned local coffeeshops, adding to the cafe's charm. Aside from their coffee -- currently a house blend of Ethiopian and Columbian coffee, but with single origin to be supplied at a later date -- Jasmine Green Tea Honey, Orange Poppy, and Oreo Cream Cheese flavoured cakes are also available.
To celebrate the new year (even if you're not Chinese), have a Chicken Bak Kwa sandwich in this friendly, whimsical cafe in Little India. The old school, playful vibe is bound to put you in a good mood!
Always hesistant to queue at CMCR on weekends? Well, you might want to take a chance and hope the queues are shorter during this festive period. Go for their Turkish Breakfast, or their Croissant Croque Monsiuer, or the Braised Ox Cheeks Eggs Ben (yes it's hard to decide)!

Lying amidst the city madness at the Troika, Persiaran KLCC, Acme is a favourite among both expatriates and locals. Since its arrival in 2010, it has lead the café scene as a stellar example of what a cafe-bar can be. Their innovative, seasonal menus are truly original, and is testament to their chef’s artistry – you’ll have a hard time deciding what to order. For those of you with sweet teeth, go for their sizzling brownies or the banana caramel cake! It's a tad pricey to dine here, so be prepared. Nonetheless, it's a gorgeous space to enjoy the company of good friends over good food!
Naanwiches are FIX's specialties, and they offer a variety of four with various fusion flavours and even one vegetarian option too! Safest bet would be the Chicken Tikka, soft Naan bread encasing well-marinated Chicken Tikka pieces with a mildly spicy sauce that fires up the dish with each bite. Crunchy cucumbers and red/green peppers add to the refreshing taste, as well as making it taste more authentic as well. Served with Nacho Chips on the side; corn chips with a rather thick cheese sauce and salsa atop.
