Beer nerd usually only wants to drink and doesnt care what to eat. This @tapoutsg has good beer and great food! The food are very good for value!

Heard that Good Luck Beer House now serves noodle. Mr. W used this excuse to tempt me here for lunch after work. Then they only serve noodle after 2pm. So we ordered them sim dum platter and xo carrot cake.

There was a bit of a cultural shock here on xo carrot cake. The one i expected was carrot cake fried in XO sauce which is a very common snacks in chinese restaurants in HK. Crystal Jade here has it too. This one was like a fritter. Tasted good but very different.

The dim sum platter was not bad. Nice for a light lunch.

So much for light lunch, we ended up takeaway some of the dim sum.

I first saw @ladandco.sg or @ladanddad.sg was back in 3 years ago, soon after We moved here, the first time we went to maxwell food centre.I thought wow there was a western food stall in hawker centre. Totally forgot about this place.. (opps sorry about this, now i know what I missed out in the last 3 years). About few months ago, in a car went past Lad and dad as a gastropub. Oh oh i remember this. Before even i have a chance to go there. I heard about Lad and co with craft beer! Ok this is the chance and here we were today!
If there was a selection of fish for you to choose, i would have thought i was in a chip shop in England.

My fish and chip was just small size but very decent small size. It was definitely enough for me. The crispy light batter was so good. Didnt feel any greasiness or the taste of reused oil (or we called it 10k year oil in HK) Very nicely done

Mr. W had the banger and mash, i had a little taste. It was equally good. I love the gravies and mash.

Now i really want to go to Lad and Dad for the beef stew and big breakfast.

Please make sunday roast with yorkshire pudding, you will see me every other week or at least once a month!

I can see we are going to be a regulars there. Even Miss W said the fish and chip tasted better than what she had before!! She is a little foodie.

Have only been here few times, the food is always good and good for value.

Burrata to stop me from fainting and half portion of alio e olio.

Sweet potato chips came for free because there was a delay on the bone marrow.

We walked past bird of paradise, the smell of waffle took me in. I was so full (combination of trying to fast during the date with a couple of sweets; i ate too fast and the coconut in the laksa made me bloated;) i thought since i was here, i must have one. So i picked lychee rose in cone. Very refreshing light icecream, probably neutralised the acid in my stomach, i felt so much better after having the icecream. I was told it was my imagination. Anyway, i dont care. I did feel less bloated!

Honestly, after three years of living in Sg, this is the first time i probably had a laksa. After i got my bowl of laksa, i was immediately exposed as a foreigner because I was looking for chopsticks. Nup! Only spoon is allowed…. Once you started eating, it was such a clever idea. They cut the noodle short. Eating with a spoon means every spoonful, you are eating the noodle together with the soup. It might not be true, but that was how I interpreted it. I wish i paid extra to add extra cockles. Nothing fancy, but i felt so shiok.

Bikini to share with Mr W and i had lamb tenderloin while Mr W had the short rib

Bikini tasted like how i was teased when i ordered - ham and cheese sandwich… well it was a ham and cheese sandwich. It was very cheesy but couldnt taste the ham. Not recommend this

Lamb tenderloin with Kung Pao sauce. It was quite interesting to have a bit of spicy flavor in it. The lamb wasnt gamey at all. Quite enjoyable.

Short rib
Soft and tender, very flavourable. Mr. W gave me a few slices. It was great, but i cannot imagine I finish it the whole course by myself. Very heavy course.

Tropical Tau hauy
Coconut panna cotta with mango and passion fruit, the sourness from the passion fruit was very refreshing after a heavy meal. Coconut panna cotta was great and it did look like tau hauy. I think i need to be more careful with coconut… my stomach is not very compatible with it. Felt a bit bloated again….. 😵‍💫

It is a pricy place. I wont say it is overpriced because they use good ingredients. The food is good but not so good to me that i want to come back again very soon. Nice try.

Super delicious! I had a yuzu sorbet, a bit sweet but very refreshing. If i think it’s sweet, i think normal people may think it is very sweet, but I enjoyed it!

Lumbre, a new restaurant at Chijmes run by Spanish Chef Jose Alonso (same for Kulto and Kilo).

Bluefin Chutoro “Tiradito” (sliced raw fish) with Chipotle Sauce and Wakame:
It was a melt in your mouth chutoro, Not too much to make me feel its too fatty, but just right to make me feel greedy to want a bit more but no more. That means i will order this again next time.

Grilled dry aged beef slider:
I have been into bread making.. the bun was fresh and soft. The patty was cooked just perfectly pink inside , moist and lovely. Just picked it up with my hand and demolished it quickly. Hands got a quite greasy , really not sure where it came from.😬

Grilled Cauliflower with Black Taahini:
I have also liked cauliflower since i was kid. It is a very bland vegetable, but it has some subtle favor, whatover goes with it stands out like this black tahini. The permanganate gave a but of sweet kick.

Charcoal Octopus
Octopus is one i would order when i am not with Mr.W because he doesnt like it. I woukd like the octopus more char, maybe its just me cos i quite like burnt char 🤣

Lamb Rack with Pistachio Praline, Baby Tomatoes and Black Olives :
The lamb was ok but not too special. No gamy tasty, and it was quite fatty. I did try to eat some of the fat bit.

Starter stole the show tonight.

Amazingly, maybe this place is too new, if you google this place, all you can find is their official website. They havent invited any KOL or food bloggers for tasting. Amazing for a new restaurant. Maybe that also explained why it was a bit quiet on a Friday night.

Havent been back here for a year! The whole place was packed full of people! It was like back to pre covid time! Very impressed with the decent pizza oven in a pub!

We ordered way too much food and the food portion was huge!

Nacho: so ok. The salsa and avocado on top were not spread evenly, a lot of plain empty trtilla trip.

Popcorn chicken: I didnt eat…. It was just me. I just dont like popcorn chicken

Pepperoni pizza: very amazing pizza , Little Miss W was very happy

Dukkah Cauliflower: nice one with indian spice. Just the size was double i would have imagined

Wagyu burger and cripsy pork belly were not my main. Had a bite of the pork belly. It looked and tasted like chinese siu yuk without the salt. Skin was very cripsy

Grilled octopus tentacles : very good for value for this big portion. It was very well cooked and the green sauce was nice to dip. Just wish it could be more char to give a extra grill flavour.

The whole place was packed. Food waiting time was told over an hour but all the food was about in about 45 mins to one hour. We had some nacho to nipple on so didnt feel that we waited long time.

I have been craving for peking duck for very long time. This place might not be a famous for peking duck, at least the food is good.

Crispy tofu ($8) Mr.W ‘s favourite dish but this one is full of garlic. Honestly this is not great. Quite dry….

Peking Duck (1/2) $46
I was shocked to see there were only 8 piece!! I could have eaten all these on my own!! And i DIDNT! This is not a bad at least good enough to satisfy my craving. And the 2nd dish!! I had the duck meat fried with E fu noodle. I have also craved for e fu noodle for long time. Ok you are forgiven for the small quantity for peking duck. Little Miss W was very happy with the prawn cracker.

Broccoli with bamboo shoot and mushroom ($30) the broccoli was very crunchy, cooked just right. Hate the overcooked broccoli at home 😵‍💫 so that Little miss W would eat it like a old grandma needs soft veggie…. 😫

Crispy chicken (1/2) $28
Always nice to have this in restaurant because it is hard to cook this at home. Satisfied my another craving and thank god this one had no garlic! Or Mr.W would give me black face.

E fu noodle fried with duck meat
The duck meat was soo tough… still happy that i could order the noodle as part of the peking otherwise i would have ordered it as a separate dish.

Little Miss W saw the noodle, she nearly bursted into tears saying “This is not the noodle i want “ I simply said this is mummy’s favourite noodle. Trust me you will like it and this is not that easy to find in singapore, usually only in HK restaurants. She had a a mouth full. I saw a smile on her face. She has very similar taste in food as me. I was sure she would like it. She then said when we travel to HK, is it affordable to have it🤣🤣 yes certainly. Can be 3 times cheaper too!

Overall a very satisfying dinner to me. Not cheap! About 1/3 of the dinner last night….. but Its mama day! Once in a while i can be selfish and picked what i like. Actually i didnt….. i saw there is lamb stew in the special menu… and i also wanted to order the claypot rice. But only 3 of us, its hard to order these two…. 😫

@sushikimurasg was my first omakase i had in Singapore, it was probably the first michelin restaurant i went in Sinagpore also. @shin.yasuke.sg is their new restaurant, sushi only restaurant. 15 sushi omakase menu for $180++. Seabream, bonito, horse mackeral, blue fin tuna, chutoro, otoro, ikura, uni, seared scallop …. No printed menu, serve what ever they get on the day.
