Grigliata Mista Di Pesce at PastAmore. Filling portion of salmon, dory, tuna and a little squid and prawns on top of salad. Dory was oversalted and swimming in oil and the restaurant forgot the tuna. For $33.50, could be better.

Trying out a hidden jem called PastAmore at Rochester Mall. It's next to Starbucks, with a really nice alfresco dining area. One of the main courses we ordered was Grigliata Mista Di Pesce ($33.50). Grilled salmon, dory, squid and prawns with mixed salad. My sis found the dory salty and sent it back and got a double portion in return. Prices are not really cheap but service is great.

Pork Sausage with Mashed Potatoes $5 Despite the eccentric chef owner, I made the trip back as I really loved their two types of pork sausages, with and without cheese filling. This time I found the sausages tasty but not overly salty. I didn’t think much of the mashed potatoes, though the gravy was unexpectedly pleasant. 10 Apr 2018

$22 For Everything On The Sausage Menu Except for the bratwurst. So about 3.5 on average per sausage. Cheese was pretty palatable and the chorizo was incredibly meaty. Everything including the bockwurst and frankfurter( aka "normal" sausages) had a nice skin that breaks open and is well charred.

Currywurst 3.5nett iirc Pretty legit curry taste. I was actually surprised by the strength of the spices and it's probably due to the curry powder.

DIY Kale Salad With Duck Meat My office is nearby so this is my go to place when i wana hv healthy lunch. The price is ranging from $11-$14 depending the type of protein added. Choice of chicken, duck and beef. Their olive rice and pasta are yummy too

DIY salad $13.8. I love this place so much, I was glad to hear that they do islandwide delivery! As there is a minimum order of $40, I ordered this for my whole family (they all picked their favorites - soba, olive rice, and quinoa respectively). Unlike a lot of other food, the taste quality didn’t drop when on delivery as opposed to eating at the place itself. More expensive but no regrets treating ourselves to something both healthy and tasty for once :”)

Make your own salad $10.8 for the cheapest option with meat (aka mine). Hands down favorite salad place for many years even though the prices have gone up. I got the cajun chicken which was well-marinated and all the other ingredients were fresh and delicious too 😋

Lovely Ambience Not a lot of restaurants in Singapore are set in a colonial bungalow in a park. And live music for weekend brunch. Totally made up for the okay but forgettable food. Hope they return with something similar.

Lavender honey roll with lime fromage blanc, topped with slices of roasted pineapple and a tiny scoop of yoghurt sorbet on the side. - Taste-wise, the cake is quite nice. I like the lime fromage blanc! Very refreshing. The yoghurt sorbet is love! Wished for a bigger scoop of the yoghurt sorbet though. Texture-wise, the roll cake is a tad dense. Yew Ji Pig's Kidney) Mee Sua, $7.50 Who loves Yo ji mee sua, kee chiew, especially so for Uncle Daniel's bowl of traditional Yo Ji (kidney) Mee Sua! Those who stays around Hillcrest will know of his famous #BakChorMee but I tell you his mee sua is lagi better! The soup recipe was inherited from his grandmother, heavenly and rich in black sesame oil! Thick slices of quickly blanched pig kidney and with a mix of pork liver. Within the soup, you find bits of lard, shallots and julienned ginger. Add $2.50 for some brandy or cognac to give the soup based and extra oomph! I think this makes great #confinementfood too! Seriously, I don't mind travelling all the way from SengKang West just to eat it again! I would not go for other kidney mee sua unless I can find another one with a soup base better than Uncle Dan's! Pretty easy to locate, it is side by side #SozoEducation, a tuition centre, which is just right beside, run by Uncle Dan's better half.

250g roasted ribeye steak ($42) @ shelter in the woods when your 250g roasted ribeye steak is a tree slab. at the heartwood is a butter of fats so lusciously decadently sinful, the devil seeks shelter in the woods.

hearty hot starter of spanish chorizo squid and white clams in seafood broth ($23). essentially a seafood and cured meat race to see who is richer. wicked bowl to totally whet your appetite for the mains

Great Pasta So we got the Pappardelle alla boscaiola ($25) and Spaghetti e polpa Di granchio ($28). The Pappardelle was really good. Pasta was a little softer than Al dente, the way I like it. And it was flavourful with a good amount of mushroom. However I felt like I couldn't taste the beef so I'm not sure if they minced it such that I couldn't really get the meat texture. The spaghetti had a good kick to it from the chilli crab. It was also creamy yet not too overwhelmingly so. It was my favourite dish from here. Overall I think the pastas are better than the pizzas here. Ambience was nice and quiet on weekday night.

Bufala Pizza ($26) And Beef Pizza ($27) The Bulafa pizza was a bit dull for me. The flavour was quite flat in my opinion. But my friend really enjoyed it so it depends on how much you like mozzarella I guess. The beef pizza was a little disappointing. The toppings were quite sparse and the beef was just average. For both pizzas, the crust were thin and yet gave a good enough bite. It was crispy and held the toppings well. I think this was my favourite part of the pizzas.

Tagliatelle Florence Tagliatelle Florence ($29) handmade tagliatelle tossed with homemade Italian sausage, mushrooms and truffle combined in a light cream sauce. The pasta itself was excellent, sausage was tasty as well. However, I felt the overall dish lacked the punch in flavor that I was looking forward to. It was tasty but not particularly special.

Good zichar dishes that were executed well! Recently found a hidden gem for good zi char?? I had a group dinner at West Lake recently, and it was located quite hidden among the older HDBs in Farrer Road. Known for their Kong Ba Pao, it was indeed one of the best renditions I've had. The pork belly slices were braised till they almost fell apart when I tried to pick them up, and they had so much flavour. Neither too salty nor too sweet, the sauce was rich with umami and just perfect for the bun. Talking about that, the bun was so soft and fluffy and especially sweet after chewing it for a while! Definitely a lovely dish to get for sharing. 1 is definitely not satisfying enough for me 😂 Their Chicken Fried Rice was surprisingly good as well. The rice were in individual grains but not oily, and it had good savoury flavours while the wok hei was subtle. The chicken pieces were tender too! Very lovely. Their Fried Baby Squid was a joy to have as well, as each baby squid piece was tender and well coated with a light flavourful batter. Best with some beer! Didn't manage to take a pic of their Beef Hor Fun, but that was satisfying as well, as not only the Hor Fun noodles were cooked perfectly due to its silky smooth texture, the beef slices were flavourful and tender as well. Don't expect great wok hei here, but their dishes were still well executed. Can't wait to bring my family here! 😍

Delectable Hor Fun I recently had the pleasure of dining at Westlake and their Hor Fun is highly recommended. the noodles had just the right amount of chewiness, and the sauce was a blend of harmony that left my taste buds dancing with delight. Portion was generous, ingredients were large, ensuring a satisfying experience. However there is room for further improvement with the service provided from the staff. Nevertheless, quality of food was tasteful and pleasant enough to warrant another visit in the near future.

Best Kong Bak Bao in Singapore Westlake is a old school 40+ year establishment located at the 2nd floor of a HDB flat located near Farrer Road MRT. This is an old HDB estate and the feel here is like I was transported back to the early 90s. The interior of the restaurant is also very old school with a sense of nostalgia that I may have came here for a meal once when I was still a kid. The signature and most famous dish here, is the Kong Bak Bao. There are 2 types, the normal braised pork or the iberico pork. The sauce is the same, just that the Iberico is much more fatter and much more tender. I had both before, and taste wise, it's equally good. The normal braised pork itself is already soft and tender. The Bao itself was also faintly sweet and just so compatible with the savouriness of the braised pork. This is definitely the best Kong Bak Bao I ever had.
