While Uma Uma is more affordable than a place like Ippudo, I still prefer the latter more. We ordered 3 different ramen.
The first one is Tan Tan Men. It was my favourite of the three with an interesting twist on flavour. The ramen’s sesame base that gave the noodles a nutty taste and better texture!
Next up is their Mazesoba Chasiu. This one didn’t fare so well as enough though the noodles were light and springy, it didn’t really have much flavour even after mixing it with the sauce. Perhaps those with a lighter palate would like it!
The last (and worst one in my opinion) is the Mentaiko Ramen. After throughly mixing the noodles and roe, it was overwhelmingly salty and fishy!! 😵 That being said, my brother slurped up every last bit so it’s a personal preference.

Basilico’s main course
High class carbonara with some black truffle! Unfortunately, the main was not good as the food at the appetiser and dessert buffet. While the pasta was al dente, the carbonara did not have much flavour with a lack of umami from the bacon and truffles 😔. On the whole it was still tasty as a carbonara but compared to the quality of food that was available it was disappointing.

Basilico’s appetiser buffet
Bread! I love bread!! I know it’s slightly strange to go for the bread at a buffet but their quality is up there with the selection of breads being pretty decent (focaccia, squid ink, rye, the list goes on). Not to mention all the jams and condiments you can find at other parts of the buffet that can accompany the bread!

Next the cold cuts! Lots of different cold cuts here from salami to pancetta and different types of parma ham. Especially liked the salami which had a nice bite to it yet was dotted with bits of fats that melted in your mouth. Prosciutto di parma with rock melon is always a good combination as well!

Lastly the cheeses! They have sooooo many cheese here I didn’t even know where to start. Their burrata (not shown since it’s at a different section) had such a soft and creamy texture that it blew me away. Excellent when paired with some honey. The many other cheeses were all tasty as well!

Place: We had a table out of the main area which was nice as we got to see the higher levels of the hotel and admire the view. The seats were extremely comfortable and there was good service as well!

It’s always so hard to choose what kind of dessert I want so having all those options is a big bonus 😍.
I went to try every single item at their dessert counter (there are many more things not in the photo I assure you) and it was amazing!! By the end of it I was well and truly stuffed. Even though you may not like all the desserts, you will definitely find something that you love!! Some of my favourites was the Raspberry chocolate mousse cake, the pistachio millefeuille and of course, their gelato! One cannot leave Basilico without trying their assortment of gelato! The chocolate sauce and biscuit bits helped to take the chocolate gelato up to another level 🤤
Experiencing the dessert buffet is definitely a must at Basilico especially since it’s so value for money!

Ding Tai Fung's Xiao Long Bao was very satisfying with the flavourful juices flooding my mouth after biting into it. And look how soft and supple its skin is! You can see the weight of the meat and soup stretching the skin of the dumpling! 🤤

Getting dinner to my stomach took a lot of work tonight. From a 1.5hour drive (credits to Lornie Road 😒) to long queues outside the restaurant and finally the wait for the food. I was starving by the time the food arrived!!
The highlight for me was the restaurant's fried rice with pork chop. The moist, succulent pork chop tops a mound of perfectly cooked eggy fried rice. The fried rice doesn't leave an oily mouth feel and is actually quite light! Which is why I couldn't help but continue shovelling it down 🙈
On the whole I still don't see why people queue till the cows come home to eat here haha. I mean it's nice and all but wow the queues...

However, the dish held its own against more well known restaurants like Coco or Monster Curry. The egg was creamy, the rice was plump and chewy and most importantly, the curry was just right! Japanese curries can sometimes be too sweet or thin; not so for Washoku Goen though!
The generous portion and affordable price will leave you satisfied without burning a hole in your wallet 💸.

The bowl had an assortment of ingredients with my favourite being the golden raisins which were nice and chewy when eaten with the salad!
Unfortunately, I tried the spicy salmon instead of going for the original and boy was it a mistake! I think this particular poke bowl was accompanied by five glasses of water. My spicy tolerance is extremely low though so I should have known better 🙈. For people that want to be healthier by switching to brown rice, Aloha serves delicious brown rice! I think they mix it with some sushi rice vinegar because it doesn't taste like plain brown rice.

Having a craving for the coin prata at Sin Ming Roti Prata now which I tried to satisfy tonight but the prata I got was greasy and soggy 😢. These coin pratas were crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside and well seasoned enough to wolf them down plain! Tonight's prata can't even hold a candle to them haha. Oh well, the quest for more delicious prata continues!! 💪🏻

Their 'Carne di Maiale Ragu' is thick, creamy and was soooo good at satisfying the pasta cravings that I've been having (but don't expect the smell or taste of truffle even though they mention truffle cream). Binjai Park's version isn't as thick as Greenwood which is good since Greenwood's was slightly too heavy. Still, it's best for sharing among a few friends in case the sauce is too rich for you!

This is my favourite pizza to order because of the honey drizzled on it!! The contrast between the honey's sweetness and the bacon's saltiness hits all the right notes with the fresh oregano cutting through all that richness. I promise, the combination of flavours will definitely keep you coming back for more 🤤

Also, if you like Peperoni Pizzeria and always thought that their Greenwood outlet was too crowded, Binjai Park seems more peaceful.
